Hello, Recent back i bought the domain name bingrss.com, quite luckily i got that name.I just searching it if available, but got it really luckily. Here @ DP i want some suggestion regarding this domain name. Should i sell this domain name in future or should i host it ? I have seen many issue regarding the trademark violation, "bing" is copyrighted to Microsoft and i don't want any issues or case on me. I was planning to keep it off, or park it. Please be frank and state your suggestion. Thank You !
Looks Like copyright issues knocking your door. "Bing" is trademarked by Microsoft and you might end up getting into trouble.
If the trademark of "Bing" was registered after your name register, then don't worry. Just creating a website
Do you mean they will take it away from me and i will sit watching. Explain ? Even if i keep it unhosted they will take ?
What will your site be about- if it is not related to microsoft in anyway then you should be fine But trying to get your site not related to microsoft in anyway will be hard(microsoft might aswell be China at the rate they are growing lol) Decide for yourself Consider all the factors, advantages and disadvantages and do what YOU think is best.
I highly doubt MS will come knocking wanting you to hand it over. Bing is a very generic word, hell the sound of it makes me think of a casino.
No they wont, until you do something related Bing search. And This domain could be used for RSS Aggregation News Blog, because "Rss" Makes it too specific.
If you think you can make use of the domain then keep it, but if you're not even sure what to do with it, why not sell it? I'm sure you can get a good deal for it.
Personally i have no idea why you thought about buying this domain unless you have something to do with Bing? I would look to sell the domain if you are too scared to develop it, otherwise why not make it a blog about the activities of Bing?
Depends on whether the "Bing" tm was registered to MS before or after you registered domain name. Check USPTO for trademark date. If it were me - I'd say you're reasonably safe from having it just "taken" by MS. But I wouldn't exactly trust the real big corporations not to bully you & try to take it for nothing or nearly nothing. It's happened to me & unless you have enough $$$$$ for lawyers to go to court, I'd enterprise on the name sooner rather than later by selling it. park the domain for a little bit, then list it for sale (NOT auction) on several sites (Sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy, etc. with a reasonably high "asking price" to get exposure in the general market to let it get hits from searches. Then, in just a couple of weeks or months from now (unless you get a high offer or your asking price for the name) list it on a featured auction (bold, first page, etc.) on say - Sedo. Have it appraised - but wait for a couple of weeks until MS's "Bing" service & name become very familiar as a household word - it will get you a higher appraisal! Timing is EVERYTHING!! Doing it this way, I'm almost positive you will sell it at a premium rate! At the very least mid-to-high $$$$$.00 or possibly even $$$$$.00 Congrats! Do good!
Hi friend i was researching whether Bing is registered as trademark in the registry. I found that bing it is not registered and it is not listed in Microsoft's Trademarks http://www.microsoft.com/library/toolbar/3.0/trademarks/en-in.mspx . I have read a news article that Microsoft has been denied by the US patent commission for approving that trademarks. Well what are your opinions as far you have came to know that Microsoft Bing isn't registered trademark ?
Quite honestly, you arn't going to get in any trouble using it as long as you don't relate it to their search engine. If, by chance, it becomes a legal issue, they aren't going to demand millions, they will simply send you a legal notice asking you to fetch up the domain or their will be consequences. I VERY much doubt you will get in any sort of trouble using it and I personally think Microsoft will have a hard time trademarking the word "Bing". But since you purchased the domain before they registered any kind of trademark, you have no liabilities to worry about.
greetings, But what should be the price that i should put forward to the buyer ? ofcourse appraisal would decide this but if you were me then ?
I would definitely sell it! Dont advertise that you intend to sell it too much though...Gates might be sad
Well it sounds .. that you dont know what to do withit .. SELL IT ..!! ... to me .. ! ... dont expect big bucks for it exactly thats why co basiclly for you it sound useless .. let me know and good luck ..
There is time for each thing to come. I ain't confused about to sell it or host it. Just i want suggestion. It sounds like you are pretty interested in this domain.
