i'm having some major firefox problems right now.

the problem is that every 5 seconds or so firefox seems to just process a bunch of things.. it lags, i cant click anything, timer goes up.. if i have a form selected it deselects it when it finishes processing. this last for about 2 seconds... its making me unable to use firefox which has all the SEO tools i use now.

i currently have these extensions installed:
    google toolbar 2.1.2
    blogger comments 1.3
    seo for firefox 2.0.1b
digital point forums search or jump 0.1
    and dom inspector 1.8.0.6

i dont seem to remember installing dom inspector.

    i have firefox 1.5.0.6 installed

on a side note ive been using opera.. i really like the mouse gestures, and graphics.. other then that i dislike opera compared with firefox or even IE.

I also love firefox because of all the useful extensions I have installed. But lately it has been giving me a hard time. Whenever I use a form to upload something it just crashes after the upload is complete. I have been also getting the beach ball of death (kind of like window's sand clock) all the time with firefox.

I agve up on it as too many sites were incompatible and would not display properly. I think almost all sites are coded just for IE with little is any Firefox checking.

I also love firefox with all the cool extensions. Lately, it has been crashing when I go to the new Yahoo homepage in firefox and try to do a search. One thing that really helps to alleviate the frustration is the Session Manager firefox extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2324/. It restores the previous state of all windows and tabs after it crashes and has helped me many times. Sometimes I have to restart firefox because it seems to be using up a lot of RAM and then it starts working better. Did you check for updates for those extensions in the firefox extension manager?

You need to install all of your extensions.

If that fixes it, re-install them one-by-one (testing each one).

thanks for your help.. i went through all the steps and it didnt fix it. resigned myself to either using IE or opera at work so i went through setting up my IE to give me the options i need to work well, seo buttons, pr checker, and tabbed browsing (via yahoo toolbar).. That worked ok though the extensions i had for seo in firefox were far superior to the buttons available. Yahoo tabbed browsing pissed me off though, i couldnt open tabs in the background and when i opened a new tab it would go to yahoo's page.. i couldnt type into the address bar immediatly and would have to click on it again. Plus my screen was substantially smaller due to yahoo toolbar's bulk.. anyhow i decided to try check once again if opera has anyway to detect at least a pr. Eventuallyi found a script that allows me with a click to view PR, however it was in a very ugly text format. I had to go through another installation to change it to a much nicer greeen bar..

while in this installation i had to go to documents and settings -> application data (a hidden file) -> opera etc... but while in "application data" i saw a folder called "Mozilla". Now after my last failure with mozilla i had repeated the step in the firefox instructions that should give me a clean uninstall.. apparently firefox didnt delete this file.. i looked deeper and i saw cookies, thousands of them. Now i deleted all this data days ago using firefox's delete privacy section.. And it was showing my cookies from months ago. So i deleted all this data.. rechecked to make sure that everything was gone from my computer (via searches for firefox and mozilla.. not that throrough but whatever), and reinstalled with version 1.5.0.4 Finally it works..
