WebTHosting - Scum

I've recently bought into this terrible hosting provider while looking for great prices on VPS. It seemed too good to be true - and that's only because it was! After purchasing their service I noticed the site I was going to upload was blatantly against their Terms of Service. So logically (no more then 10 minutes after purchasing) I requested to cancel my service and ask for a refund. (Via the way they said I should - by using the "Request cancellation" button and opening a support ticket.

Did this happen? Of course not - 5 hours later I get an email that they're going to start setting up my VPS - I quickly replied that I had canceled the order and asked for a refund! They continued anyways and installed said server - completely ignoring me!

Now if that wasn't bad enough - I took a look at the server (cpanel/whm) and it was a trial version of the software!

Don't do business with WebTHosting! They're scammers only after your money!

Thanks. It always approve of posts like this because I use the search feature here a lot. You should probably just give negative feedback since most people won't use search.

I have an account with them, shared hosting - haven't really used it much but I haven't had any problems to complain about. The main thing is that if your site was against their TOS - it's kinda your own fault for agreeing to the tos before reviewing it and ordering.

But yea they should have given you a refund - perhaps the messages you got were automated, how long have you been waiting since you issued a refund request - those kind of things can take as long as 72 hours with some places. Just my 2 cents - I only have a shared account with them so I can't say anything about their vps or customer service.

I used to have hosting with them. There was a reason I left. Their support was terrible and they kept having hard drive failures. Also if they think your tone is bad they will suspend you cause it is in their terms according to them.

you are also responsible for this to some extent as you didn't read their TOS before signup inspite of you clicking on "I agree".

    A Friendly Advice,
Next time, Spend 5minutes to read TOS/AUP of provider you sign up for. Trust me you won't regret it.

Thats the reason why its so important to read TOS and other company policies.
But yeah, you still can use it for your other websites, which are allowed to be hosted.

Hi ... I have to agree, with others. I read the WebT Hosting TOC. It's clear, much more clear than many TOCs. Also, section (9) explicitly states no refund on VPS. Alas, such is life, although I do agree, with you, that a 10 minute change of mind might be a worthy exception. Maybe someone, on DP or another forum, can take the VPS account off your hands.

    Both. Whatever the definition is.
Their NL server is down for more 24hrs and they don't even bother to tell their customer what's going on! More sadly things is that, their WHMreseller isn't working as expected and I can't even login to my WHM. One more thing, I don't ever retrieve my client area password, but it happened twice already I got an email saying that I retrieve my client area login details/password. Now I can't even login to my client area. Very annoying!

    Yeah,their support is no quality.
I asked(through a ticket), if it was possible to get xCache installed on this node.
After all... in all of the sites I have owned and operated, I don't think I have ever had any issues with adding trusted modules before. However... there response was that that the technical personnel did not know what xCache was(hmmm). Hey... it could happen to anyone! So I took the liberty of pointing him/her to the official xCache website introduction and download section.

You should have read the terms of service before you purchased a VPS from them. It's not a scam...it's common sense to read the TOS first.

Hosts that you HAVE to read the TOS to use, are probably not worth using...

    Are you serious?
The TOS is made to prevent scams. If there was no TOS, the host could do whatever they want! I have to disagree with you 100%. If you read the TOS you know what the business is about and you won't get scammed.

This is exactly my point, if it is a 100% requirement that you read the TOS of a web host, why in god's name are you using them anyways? Sure I understand finding certain parts of the TOS, but reading the whole thing?
