Niche websites are the key to success

Ok, so I am starting to make some niche websites to monetize with adsense and I just want to make sure I am doing my research correctly. Currently I first visit a google keyword tool like the one on adwords and plug in keywords that I find interesting. If i find some related keywords that have an estimated cpc over .75 I will usually make a spreadsheet with these. I will then go to google and type my keyword like so, "keyword" to research my competition, if the competing sites are trash I believe I have found a good niche, is this so?

A: maybe, how much trash? What's the demand?

well if the competing sites have no backlinks, bad content, and there is a good amount of traffic for the niche/keyword

I've made some progress with a niche site but keyword analysis can really be a burden. I'm wondering though how you determine if competition is trash or not? Do you base your analysis on site PR or ranking?

pr isnt to important to my understanding, I would look at the content, do the allintitle: search do the allinanchor search, and see how many backlinks the competing site has and what quality those links are. I use backlink watch to do this

After completely dominating my own particular niche I am slowly becoming a player in the general category so... I would certainly say niches are the current key.

    Yes, this is so. :)

Plus, go to Google Trends and see what are the traffic expectations for your keyword(s) in the future.

Sometimes it is true but I think being a service provider is a great success.

Listen, when having a niche market you never pay over .25 cents per click, every thing esle will give you trouble. which means that it isn't a niche! Trust me my friend never pay for .25 a click and make sure you have little competitors....when you do that , than you have a niche market!
