Exclamation If you had one question for Matt Cutts ...

... and he would be forced to give an honest answer, what would that question be?

I would ask, "Matt, tell me, what are the three best things I can do increase my search engine rankings?"

However, will ask him to give us all the truth ...

WITHOUT: Building Quality Backlinks nor Adding Unique Content --> BUT still getting ranked for tens of keywords

I think that you can get some substantial traffic without too many backlinks if you target all of the massloads of keyphrase variations applicable to your niche.

There's probably some truth to this actually. I'd never really thought of it like that before. You'd still need to have a few backlinks though of course.

Yes absolutely. When I started my Costa Rica site, I had backlinks from a signature in a Costa Rica forum, so I do not know how well it would have worked without that. But I only had like 30 posts in that forum, and after only 2 weeks got something like 300 uniques daily from about 300 different keyphrases I got Google traffic from on a monthly basis.

I didn't rank for any really tough terms yet, but the amount of content allowed me to rank for all sorts of terms which people are using, but nobody was specifically targeting.
