Google has ruined my revenue AND browsing experience!

I don't know what it is... I've checked this at work and at home. It seems that any site I visit (not just mine) that has something Google, be it Analytics or Adsense or video or whatever, is hanging for a very long time. We're talking like 2-4 minutes here. Just now I was trying to get to this forum so I could post about this and I see my browser stuck on "transferring from google.com" for around 2 minutes.

But what's really grinding my bones is that my own website is suffering from this as well, you see everything before the first Adsense ad and it hangs. To clarify, it's not freezing because the loading icon on my browser still rotates. It just hangs as it transfers. And when the first ad loads, the entire page does as well. This has caused my AS revenue to drop by a whopping 75-85%.

This whole month has been nothing but bad news for me when it comes to Google. They unindex like 90% of my site and the rest goes into "supplemental", Analytics and Adsense hangs, and I think I've been smartpriced to boot. I even had a difficult time installing a new tracker on a new site, Urchin kept saying the code wasn't there (it took 6 hours to find it).

Just what the heck is going on with Google? All of a sudden they go bad!

Happening for me as well. Scanned everything twice, every program I have. It seems to come and go, but I have not confirmed it is Google.

Do you use AVG anti-virus? That is what I was suspecting until I saw your post.

    Skynt, I give a f**k because I'm not rich YET! :D

NetMidWest, I do have AVG but I run it manually (not in the background). Plus, at work I have a Mac, so it's not Windows-dependant. It seems like once I finally get through it's fine, but if I'm away for 5-10 (like now) it does it all over again!!

Also thanks to NetMidWest I know it's not a local issue (I'm near Los Angeles)

I have AVG and I've also noticed it running slowly on Google bits and pieces. Hugely annoying.

    I also have ZoneAlarm ...

ditto on the noticing thing, seems that ads are loading up slowly at times. I hit refresh a few times and it seems to get it going. Of course when I noticed it today it was on one of my sites so I of course panicked and thought something was wrong.

There is a problem with the net here too. I was even thinking of calling my DSL provider to find out why it is slow!

Yeah, but I find it hanging the forum here... so it's a bigger issue than just what search tool you use.

As it happens I have no problems with the search :)

What about other sites you visit - and it's not consistent, DP is running fine tonight, but other times it seems slow and it always seems to be analytics that's the culprit.

Same here... thinking ddos, hack attempt. But I have stuff with other providers and it was happening with those sites too.
Are you all having problems with Firefox too? My FF does not have the Google toolbar, IE does... so far, so good with FF this A.M.

I haven't experienced it, so it could be some local thing like those who experienced this might be affected by same server location? Who knows, just guessing

I started noticing the same thing last week with sites that has AdSense (didn't think about analytics - but I will start noticing now) - hanging for 20-30 seconds (not the 2 minutes - but still annoying). As a result, I took adsense off most of my sites. Not worth the degraded user experience.

Yea, I've been considering taking off AS for a while but I've just invested in text and image ads which are now active so I'll wait and see today and tomorrow how revenue is affected.

I also forgot to mention that it's not only on other websites but on Google's as well. When I log into Analytics it takes almost 2 minutes for my data to show up. My personalized Google homepage randomly hangs for almost a minute. Sitemaps is slow too but not as much (then again Sitemaps hasn't updated in over a month :p ).

Yeah - I dropped AdSense last week. I am going to miss the $.40 a day revenue it was bringing in.

I've never noticed a slow-down when viewing a page with adsense on it. Has anyone looked to see whether it's worse with any particular browser? I'm on FF 1.5 and as i say, noticing no problems here.

Yeah, and I forgot to mention, same here, i.e. there's no slow-downs/delays nor freezing or whatever on such sites with Google AdSense and/or Analytics code ...
