PR Update Info

On one of my sites, I have a new article being published every day...

After this update I have gone back and gone through every one...

Interestingly enough, this update dates back to 26-May-04 - That is the last page that got a PR...

Anything beyond that date, hasw been indexed, but shows no PR...

The site is crawled several times every day by GB.

Just thought I'd let you all know...

 

It's always that way. It takes about 1 month to have PR. I checked that at several news sites, that issue news every 10 munires in 10 or more categories. It's always from 3 to 4 weeks the page must exist before it gets PR

And backlinks pass their PR only in one (on next) update, so if you have +100 backlinks reported by Google none of them will give you PR - it will happen on next update

 

Oh, I realised that...

I had just never bothered to pinpoint an exact date for when it occurs.

What was the last update date?

May be there was that missing update but it wasn't visible in backlinks and PR reports. So Google could make his update but didn't refreshed PR and backlinks value.

I have rich content site with very heavy traffic from Google (15,000 - 20,000 uniq visitors per day) and I always see with +1,000 - 3,000 visitors surplus when update happens. There was great surplus about 14th-16th May

I didn't realise there was such strict rules in place - there must be regarding the surpluss you receive (especially with a jump in your stats THAT big)...

Do your listings climb up the serps at those peak times then?

Yes, my PR each update becomes stronger and stronger:
1) PR5 categories PR4
2) PR6 categories PR4
3) PR6 categories PR5

and backlinks are doubled each update 250 - 500 - 900.

But SERPs are some kind of mystery for me bacause:
1) I have hits from Google for about 10,000 keywords and
2) All most popular SERPs (of course in Russian) that I know I'm already #1 (so I'm used to check if my page is indexed by Google or not just typing keyword the page is about,for example, "final fantasy cheat codes (but in Russian)" and if there are no my site on #1 of SERPs so the page 99,9% is not indexed )

I have 27,000 pages on my site - all of them well optimized. So I don't care what SERPs I have for "cheat codes (in russian)" (not good example because I'm #1 but still I'm not #1 for "games" keywords, for example) because I'm #1 in all "game name cheats codes" for 10,000 different games and so on for reviews, interviews, previews, news, forums, cheat codes, patches, no cd cracks, trailers, demo dowloads, walk throughs etc.

So I visit many forums and wonder why there are so many professionals that can promote site with a bunch of keywords which is very effective for sites selling something and there are none that can create good site for ads placement with traffic 100,000 uniq users per day like yahoo.com was 20 years before.

For rich content sites like gaming, software, gsm, computers on-site optimization with good PR can make miracles. And you don't care about exact keyword, because just the keyword gives you usually from 5-10% of what can "keywords + different phrases" give you (stats for Russian phrases with some keyword as a core of the phrases)

SO my gameguru.ru site was on 10,000th place in Russian internet just 1 year before and now it's on 26th place of all Russian internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need to get some terms set in place like is it closest person to the date? and how long do you have to keep the link in place for?

 

something simple e.g. 10 winners on the same date and 20 loosers each winner gets 2 links select in order of comitment so last one gets the last 2......
A link to bet should have pr3 min ???

time ... well I'm afraid I'm not a great friend of tight controls thus if you pull a link you pull it.......

I'll drop DP a PM to see if he is game to wring in some easy support....
