They are both good, there are more users of phpld here and for a newbie phpld is probably better, just download the 2.0 free version and try it

The only thing I don't like about site-sift is the mod-rewrite always puts a number "/223/Home" the phpld 3.0.6 version is really cool a loot of new functionalities really worth the $25 it costs

Aha,that doesn't matter..I've installed site-sift script, you know, adding categories is really boring,I want to know if anyone could send me the "Category Database" who is using that script.(I know there's such thing for Phpld)

phpLD hands down. I've used both, but I think phpLD has a lot more flexibility than SS does and there are more developers for it too.

Emily, phpld's backend is really nice and is the more popular script being used by this forum's members. You should also check out other people's directories to see what scripts they use besides the two scripts mentioned.

One thing I noticed, is that PR flows better on Site-Sift compared with PHPld v2.0 anyone noticed this on Site-Sift powered directories, I don’t know compared with the last version of PHPld 3.0 because very recent.

    You are absolutely right -

I have a couple of both scripts and PR flows quite smoothly on site-sift than PHPLD - though phpld is easier to manage - but site-sift have better PR flow and the pages get indexed faster to phpld !

No. I don't think so. both are seo friendly, but SS makes one extra directory in your URL.

I use phpld, but have no experinence with SS.

Is there anything that SS can do but not phpld can't (besides PR flow that some members have mentioned) ?
