Quick DNS question

I have the ads showing now on a site (easyautopart.com) that I just recently switched over to a new host (in order to use the COOP) -- however, the site cannot be validated. My guess is that it has to do with the namesever switchover -- for those that have experienced something similar, is the namesever used to check usually lagging most others?

It'd be the only reason I can figure out that would keep the site from validating.

It's not an issue of "lagging", but depending on how long your old name server had it's TTL (time to live) values set to, it might be cached on this end under that time expires. For example digitalpoint.com DNS records have a TTL of 24 hours.

What a bummer...the TTL must be set to infinity (couldn't find any info on how long it really is). I'll just try again tomorrow -- I doubt Yahoo hosting would have had it set for longer than 24 hrs [switched it over early yesterday afternoon].

Doh! I'm still getting the same error of "ads not found" for easyautopart.com -- they are on all the pages, seem to be rotating properly...for whatever reason, it just isn't been seen on the digitalpoint system right now.

Is there any way to request a DNS flush, in the event that TTL is set to some ridiculous time (having dealt with Yahoo hosting, I wouldn't be terribly surprised)? Otherwise, maybe someone could look at the domain and pound into my head what I'm doing wrong?

I gave someone else the exact same code HTML version code yesterday and it worked -- isn't that the way it always works. :)

Maybe your server is doing something based on user agent... because the validator does not get any ads... but it does get something different on the end of the page:

    </td></tr></table>

That is the page on the old yahoo namesevers...how weird.

The current ones as of the past 50 hours, NS27.HOSTGATOR.COM & NS28.HOSTGATOR.COM, do not contain that crazy auto-generated Yahoo crap. It probably isn't resolving to the proper IP of 70.84.123.2 -- it is correct everywhere else but here; isn't that strange?

So...it sounds like the TTL for easyautopart.com hasn't expired yet on digitalpoint. Damn.

    Any other thoughts?

Just read your blog Shawn...you have some interesting experiences with domain transfer nightmares.

    Was it http://www.winn-and-sims.com? Hmmm...

I'm such an impatient person (too much caffeine) -- if I keep hitting that validate button I'll either need a new mouse or run out of API queries for the day. It should have already switched over...

Oh... that wasn't a domain transfer "problem". As part of the settlement, they got a domain, but they never accepted the transfer of it, so I still have it. ("They" being the company, not a registrar).

At least you're making good use of it. ;)
I'm not sure why they would bother writing those kind of comments, given your background in technology...didn't take too long to just make the company look worse and worse.

Is there anything else I should be doing, in terms of validating for the COOP? Just gotta wait for the cached IP for my domain to get flushed and set to the correct one? I guess in the meantime, everyone can enjoy the thousands of free ads.

Cygnus is rapidly losing what hair he had left...

Can anyone else see ads on easyautopart.com? I've checked at a client's office, in my home office, and my personal laptop...ads rotating beautifully.

Still can't validate though; the TTL should be long past now. :(

I just did a DNS lookup, and everything "seems" to be okay.
    http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=easyautopart.com&type=A

Is it possible to request something on the order of a ipconfig /dnsflush -- if it is a DNS issue, that is the only thing left that I can think of.

Is it possible that something else is wrong with my site?

    Shawn -

Did you clear the cache manually? It works this morning.

Now all I need to do is put my initial 54,000 weight to good use!
