    Hey guys,

I have a Wordpress site and the plugin "all in one SEO Pack". After each post there is a place for this plugin with these catogeries: "tittle, description, keywords". May I know what it is used for and how do i use it?

    Thanks!

I have never used it but it sounds pretty obvious...

"title" likely is used to set the value of the <title> element in the <head> of your HTML. This is THE most important on-page SEO factor that affects how you rank for a particular keyword phrase. You usually want to target a single keyword phrase that best describes the content of the page.

"description" is likely used to set the <meta name="description" content="This is the snippet that shows up in Google SERPs if not DMOZ entry for page and if the description contains all of the search keywords"> element in the <head> of your HTML. This does not affect how you rank at Google but can greatly impact your click-thru-rate. If you write good desciptions, people will be more likely to click on your organic result. Typically, people limit them to 140-150 characters max, although as of this week Google is now showing 300, 400, or more character snippets for really long tail searches that have 5, 6, 7, or more keywords in the search phrase.

"keywords" is likely used to set the <meta name="keywords" content="keyword phrase1, keyword phrase2, ..., keyword phrasen"> element in the <head> of your HTML. This does not affect your rankings at Google however it is still used by some of the lesser known, less sophisticated search engines. It used to be important but because it has been abused so much in the past, Google does not even consider this element in their ranking algorithm. But you should still include it in your HTML. Typically you should not exceed 10-15 keywords in the element. And IMO it's best to only use words that appear in the content of the page.

    Thanks Canonical for that reply.

So in summary, this thing is useless? I want more traffic for my site. Do u think this will be needed.

And is it ok if i fill in those catogeries as the below example:

Tittle: Acai berry and its benefits (tittle of the post)
Description: A short summary on the post
Keywords: Health, acai berry (words found in the post)

Correct me if i am wrong.

Anyone has any ideas what this is? Feel free to post =]. I need as much advice as possible. Thanks

Like I said, I've never seen the software so I'm not really qualified to say whether it's useful or useless. The above is simply what I would expect those setting to effect in the HTML. Just play around with it.

Set title = "This is my title"
Set description = "This is my description"
Set keywords = "This is my keywords"

Then View Source for the published page's HTML. Search for "This is my title". Is it in the <title> element in the head? Is it in the <h1> or <h2> in the post? Perhaps the software makes both the <title> and <h1> have that value... I can't say for sure w/ out playing with it...

Repeat and rinse for the description and keywords fields. You should be able to quickly firgure out which elements in the HTML are affected by which settings in the plugin.

As Canonical has described well. no you can't say this thing is useless. As for as SEO is concerns its play a vital role in crawling. but as for traffic concerns its useless. Title helps search engine & describe what is your page about. if you give title relevant to your targeted keyword you would surly get benefit.

It's just for spiders in my opinion and won't help get better SEO. That is why in your SEO all in one pack, you see tiny automated scripts for each page and etc. In my opinion, you don't have to worry about including the description and etc in each post, because I think it's a waste of time.

Your title and description are very important for SEO. What do you think the spiders are? It tells the search engines what is important on the page. Using this and relevant content for your keywords will help tremendously with SEO.

If I was targeting real estate, florida but my title and description said vacations in cancun then the search engines would be confused and think that the page is about vacations in cancun.

Having your title, description, heading tags, and keyword density all match are what is important for your page's SEO.

The best SEO plugin for Wordpress is HeadSpace2 by Urban Giraffe. Great functionality and support. It does what All in One SEO Pack does and a lot more.

As far as the description meta-tag, if Google doesn't find the exact keywords that the searcher typed in on your page, but still lists it in the SERP's then it uses the Description meta-tag. This means you have a chance to draw a click by putting benefit-oriented, persuasive descriptions into all pages.

Don't miss that opportunity. You need that click.

Your title could be "The Benefits of Acai Berry" - What you see as the link in searches.

Description could be - Discover the benefits of acai berry.... - What you see under the link in searches.

Keywords - acai berry benefits, whatever keywords you are targeting, etc. - not as important

The All In One SEO pack is excellent for giving your Wordpress blog an extra SEO boost since having good page titles and descriptions can helps quite a bit in SERPs. The keywords tag though is not so useful.

When writing the Description field in the All in One SEO pack fields, what you need to do is summarise the blog post contents in 200 characters or so. It's likely Google etc. will show this description in the list of search results, so when writing the description you want to include enough interesting info so that people know why they should click on your link.

It won't be instrumental in getting you a LOT of traffic but it's a useful tool as part of a wider strategy that gets you a lot of traffic - like link-building and writing content that people want to visit and read.

@brian65, so this means that SEO + Unique content + Backlinks = more traffic ?

PS: Who can teach me methods to get traffic, please PM me your instant messenger (preferably MSN). Thanks again. Really appreciate it
