Promoting an 'adult' site?

Hi, I've got a problem. I run a relationship/sex advice site that covers a lot of sexual topics but certainly isn't pornography. I keep running into issues trying to promote it as it gets knocked back when linked in press releases, articles etc.

I need some ideas on how to promote the site and reach the right audience, basically 'cosmo' readers.

It's driving me mad being grouped with all the porn sites when the site is only slightly NSFW and that's only in some parts such as a sexual position guide.

Any ideas? Has anyone successfully promoted a sex toy site with mainstream methods?

I know the problem. Even back link/link exchange sites where you need to pay, will not allow what they think are adult sites, into the network. Not much luck

Why don't you go offline? Magazine/newspaper advertising.

try to buy quality links related to adults.
or if you don't have huge budget, you can try to promote your website by signature in forums like DP.
