While I am a very proud member of Reddit, I'm not worried. Most likely the screenshot was just GUI made in Visual Basic (possibly able to track IP Addresses) so that he can get 100 accounts from some sucker.

Also I'm not worried because the Reddit community is great. This isn't Digg. Even if this "program" did invade the bot killers and started getting Uppity Votes, once Redditors catch wind of it (Most likely in a Reddit Post) it would be downvoted to spam hell and the address banned.

Either way, I'm not concerned. Also, can I get a word from my Reddit Brothers and Sisters!!!? Remember the Reddit Hand Sign.

well what did they expect this is a webmaster forum, and obviously for any popular site there will always be people looking to abuse it for their own gain. I don't know if this guy got those accounts - way too many imho.

i can tell a few things about that pic - it was not made in vb, unless the creator went to great lengths to change the menu design (possible). Most likely looks like it was created with delphi, looks real - but probably very buggy. I don't wager it would last very long.

Well look at his name "SmartHype" is that a fluke ? he just made a thread that has not had less than 300 guests watching and reading it for the past 24 hours .... very smart hype indeed. Is he a genius who deliberately link baited this thread or simply fluked this activity ?

Hence he may have just bull shitted his way to link bait Reddit folks .... with a creative image and thread idea.

Either way I can not recall a thread getting this amount of attention ever !!

not all attention is good attention. you don't want to anger reddit/4chan type sites because they'll do serious snooping..as for digg well best not to mess with them either but they'll most resort to name calling and physical/verbal threats.

Sure he may got this post some attention but if he got the angry enough they may start doing things to his site. Not saying they will..but just that you can't predict the outcome of things like that.

I doubt he even has one .... just hype. This post has had 100 minus votes LoL on Reddit - was over 400 votes last time I checked.

I agree that it won't work on Reddit - or it won't last long. I've been hanging around there for a year and I'm hooked because they are ruthless about shutting down spam. If you want links from Reddit... you'll need to submit something good enough to make its votes believable.

Every day they're busting accounts and domains for this stuff because really popular posts are fairly predictable. The users take it personally and actually get involved...

Anyway, 100 *legit* reddit accounts is worth 100,000x more than an unproven piece of software that's likely to provoke a quite hostile community response.
