The Single Biggest Traffic Driver to My Site (1 week old 3000 uniques/day)

Posting useful comments in other blogs' comments section, along with a link to mine. I'm amazed by the amount of focused traffic this drives; it easily accounts for 2/3 of my daily traffic.

Hard to believe you can get this much traffic from comments alone.
How many comments did you submit and how much time did you devote to this?

 

I also post every story to digg, fark, etc.

75% of the traffic is from comment posts.

 

Do you use a script to post the comments? If so which one?

Otherwise, how long does manual commenting take to reach your current level of traffic?

never thought about leaving comment, I'm going to try that.

One of my newer site got digg the other day and generated over 10000 unique in one day; it was a pretty exciting day.

 

Yeah I figure by posting every article to DIGG and fark, eventually one will get picked up. I get some traffic, even without the articles being posted to the front page.

 

Celeslam is actually pretty funny. Half of the stories are made up right?

 

You've gotta be kidding me, can you give me an example of what and where in the world you post to generate traffic like that from blog comments?

 

Leaving comments on other niche blogs can generate good traffic, and also generate interest in your blog. Rather than writing a comment like "Visit my website blah blah etc." actually get involved in the discussion - I left comments on a large corporation blog during the Summer, and in return I received tons of traffic (and some very nice backlinks on an authority website)

These kind of things never happened to me
I post, submit to digg but barely any traffic from them.

 

Ablaye, do you not have a blog?

I think people are less likely to visit if the title is not controversal, or features the likes of Microsoft, Google etc. If your digging to drive traffic to a website which offers a service or product, I think they are less likely to come on to the website - compared with a blog which could generate some additional readers.

The trick is to leave comments in a way that does not sound like you are just promoting your site.
