Has anyone tried running Adsense ads on a gallery site? That's Gallery as in the GPL Gallery Photo ALbum software. I put the AdSense code into the description field of the RC1.5 version and it displays OK. I will need to do some tweaking of the templates to improve the relevancy of the ads which are served. Anyone further down the experience curve with suggestions? Thanks Paul
Be careful, these must be content based and I don't know if an image gallery would be considered content.
I have AdSense running on a hand-built gallery site which will soon (yeah... sure...) be built using a custom script. CTR and CPM are both so low as to be effectively irrelevant.
I would expect to develop a lengthy block of text to associate with each picture. "This fine repo vehicle has 400 horsepower and would make a great vehicle for your teenage son to drive around and impress his friends. The price will be so low you can afford to have him wreck it." It's frustrating when you have content that is best described by images and there really isn't a lot else to say.
Add a sentence or two and you'll be fine. AS needs just a little something to spider so that it can display related ads. I have AS on my classic arcade games site and AS editors haven't effected a block on the site and they haven't asked me to remove the AS code either.
I have adsense running on some photo gallery sites seem to work fine getting content from the title, header and filename but recently google has kicked out a bunch of the pages, I got script that I use for photos if you want a copy http://www.floridakeysphotos.com/ it just goes by files, you create a small, medium, large and it creates a page for it, filling in the title header, and alt tag from the file name,
