I suffered loss of Pagerank across hundreds of my domains, and than got Pagerank back on them. Everyday, since the last three weeks, I am seeing a constant changes on domains that I buy in auctions. But first let me clarify the difference between expired and deleted domains. Expired domains : An expired domain is not deleted from the records by the registrar and the domain creation date and time remains the same. When a domain expires, the registrar just puts it into auction, if somebody buys it, the ownership is transferred to the new owner. But, the domain creation date remains the same. Deleted/Dropped Domains: Domains which got expired and was not picked up in auction, are deleted by the registrar from their Zone files. Now if somebody buys it, the domain would have a new creation date. As far as google is concerned, the simply remove the pagerank of the dropped domain and treats it as a new domain, since the domain has lost its age. The backlinks are more often than not discounted too. I donot buy or trade deleted domains, unless it has backlinks that can bring traffic. I deal in expired domains. But lately since the last three weeks, Google is dropping pagerank to NA (grey bar) for expired domains that are bought in auctions or bought from individual sellers. I do not know why this happens (DNS Change, Whois Ownership change(a crucial factor, and might be the factor that trips a filter) ), but the domains gets back their PR after 2 weeks. I have seen this consistent behavior since last three weeks. Some domains may get lesser PR than what they had earlier, but it does comeback. If you got lesser PR, do not worry, the original PR is restored after 3 to 4 weeks (I saw this happen to 27 of my domains). And for once I have been lucky, when one of my PR3 domain lost PR and it came back as a PR5. So any one who lost PR recently, do not worry and sit tight for TWO WEEKS. It will come back. This is true for expired domains you bought not dropped/deleted domains.
thanks,i was very stressed due to the money i spent on a pr3 websie which got pr0 just the another day,but here by writing this post you have given me some hope. thanks .
For my experience, if you get a pr N/A you have good chance to get your pr back in one o two weeks. If you get a pr0, you have no chance to have your pr back before the next update.
Thats great info, thanks for telling me. I'm sure a lot of people will find it helpful if they're buying expired domains and then panicking about the PR.
Thats not quite it, I have had many domains that went PR0, in 4th week of Jan, but got back their earlier PR.
