Confession time - how many times has everyone clicked their own ads?

I have done it four times, all accidental.

Three were at once - long story, and also a long time ago. If they were going to ban me, they would have by now :)

None. Its not that difficult not to click on one's own ads.

I'll tell you how I did the three. There is a feature in Firefox that if you click the middle mouse button, it will load the url that is in the clipboard text into a new tab. I had seen it in the options and thought hey that might be useful so I enabled it.

Later on I was doing a bit of research about the advertisers on my site and I had copied the url of one of my ads in to the clipboard so I could extract the url and visit the site. I middle clicked on an empty space on my site so I could scroll down and weirdly, instead of scrolling, another tab opened in the background. I scratched my head, tried it again and it did it again. Then I tried it one final time before I realised what was happening and just about had a panic attack.

Still I think four accidental clicks over several hundred thousand total on my account is a pretty good percentage.

So, has no-one else here clicked on their own ads (or is no-one prepared to admit it? :p)

Never... Google gave out a code that you can put on the end of the script so if you click it by "accident" (lol) it won't be counted!

I didn't know that. That would be useful - where can I find that?

Cheers, would appreciate it. I've seen how you can stop the ads working by altering the hosts file, but that disables all AdSense, which is a bit over the top.

Wouldn't advise fidling with the code to work at it! A friends partner did that and Google wasn't at tall happy and he got the dreaded message... you know what it said ;)

I got kicked off of Adsense before for clicking my own ads.
It was a very final very blunt response from Google.
I'll never do it again. :(

At least you tell the truth Malc unlike the rest in the complaints forums.... Saying this kind of stuff:

Some of the stuff they right if they get banned... and then two weeks later they register up again and get into Adsense and then they're like this:

Haha i laugh at them fools! :D

I have clicked my ads before only because i was interested in the ads, but then I never clicked again during. I left for 2 months not doing anything with adsense and started last 2 months. Im now upto $50 but till now I have not recieved anything from google. I never clicked anything again and I dont plan to even the traffic im getting is legitimate and though its slow, im making progress. They sent me my pin recently is that a good sign that I wont be deprived of my check?

When I first started using Adsense..I clicked a couple of times, but only when the ad was actually of interest of me. To be honest, back then I had no idea you couldn't click your own ads. Google contacted me with a warning and obviously I stopped. I would think a click or two wouldn't get you banned since they can tell if this was an isolated incident or not.
