Hi All, Part of this unique question is supposed to be mildly humorous, I will survive any possible embarresment Subject: What do I say to all these new 'friends', they seem to like me Context: Myspace 'friends by the thousands! Content: (((I don't like MySpace, but I wanted to experience it anyway))). -Do her parents know that hot, sexy picture is on Myspace?? -Why do all these people want to be my friend? -Do any of them know I bought them, for a fun experiment, and when ready, I may choose to sell? Should I be honest with my new friends (how, I might lose them)? -Have you seen all the people very actively trying to buy and sell Myspace accounts? -Does anyone value real friends anymore? Why bother when you can buy 40,000 sexy ones? -If a site existed (with big cash prizes) which pitted very small teams of 'real friends', against large teams of the 'MySpace kind' (so at the start of the contest period the 'cheap, plentiful, friends' had some really big advantages), would you choose to join a 'real, genuine' small team of friends, or would you "hop on the train and ride the wave to easy victory"? Why did you make the stated choice? Thank you very much. MGH
Note: This is not 'yet another MySpace thread'. It asks some original questions, and I'm intereted in answers, please. Perhaps I should have posted in it the section where Myspace accounts are being bought and sold.
I don't quite follow, did you want people to answer all your questions? btw, you should post this in your myspace blog
OK, I'll shorten it. Myspace accounts are bought and sold every day. If you did buy one, or were talking to a person who did, what would you suggest saying to your thousands of new friends? Would you be 100% honest about 'buying your friends'? How do you think they would react? Thanks
you can buy accounts? I just wouldn't announce the transaction as such. I'm sure if you specifically told them en mass you'd find a fair number of people who might take offense but for the most part I don't think the majority would even notice or care...hence the love for friends in the first place. some people are just really guarded about their friends list, others couldn't give a rat's ass
Yes, you can buy accounts (against their TOS, I would think, but you can). Millions of Cyberspace 'followers' are jumping on the MySpace trains. There are dozens or threads here about 'Myspace bulletins and the risk of using Google', accounts for sale, etc. This is the first thread I know of attempting to discuss (in a mildly humorous way) "What do You actually say to your thousands of new friends?" The purchase was an experiment, and I verified MySpace is not my type of place. Some of them seem to like me, but general I really dislike MySpace and the mania surrounding it.
I'm with you now. Aside from those interested in the buying and selling aspects, most DP'ers aren't very fond of myspace from what I can tell and so discussing it might not be a 'hot topic' but I think you were mildly humorous. I know this, you can meet some interesting people on there. Being a photographer I'm always interested in meeting people who share that interest - other photographers or "models". Not sure about this one though, her definition of model might differ from mine http://www.myspace.com/77761173
I tried to look, but I'm at a library right now and it's filtering MySpace. Thanks, for sharing, I'll try to check later.
1) I would like to visit M-Space from the library. 2) I've seen proxy sites which claim to "help surf at My Space". 3) How does this help if the library also filters proxies? Anybody know? (I've never used proxies)
Not all system Admins will block proxy sites or even know how to so you might get lucky http://www.proxysurf.org/ http://freeanonymizer.co.uk/ There is lots out there just keeping hitting them until you find one that works. To use it just place the url in the site and start surfing
