I'd be traveling to Malaysia next week and staying at a friend's place in Port Klang. I would be taking my laptop with me and was wondering what the best option for connecting to the wireless Internet would be. Would buying a prepaid mobile SIM card and using the GPRS facility to connect the mobile phone to laptop using bluetooth be a good option?
I recommend you to use Internet in places that have free Wifi Hotspot like Starbucks as accessing Internet with GPRS is very slow here. But if you still want to use mobile broadband, get a Celcom prepaid sim card because they have an option you can access the Internet for RM8/day = USD2.24/day for speed up to 384Kbps.
Thanks a lot mate. If I get an opportunity, Ill definitely use the free wifi in shopping complexes / coffee shops but it would be much more convenient to surf the internet from the comfort of home. Just to let you know, budget is not a constraint for me and I'm willing to spend more for quality service. Also, since you are from JB, what would be the best option to reach KL from Singapore. My flight lands at Singapore at 8 in the morning and I'm thinking of traveling to JB by bus and catching the 2pm train to KL. Is there a better option?
