Why webmasters don't like instant directories ?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by tihomir_wwf, Jan 19, 2009.

    Hi,

I've started a instant approval directory since 2 weeks, but really few people come and submit their site.

Is that the reason that my directory has pr 0 or when a webmaster see instant approval directory it looks suspicious ?

    Thanks in advance

Because instant approval directories normally get bombed with viagra and other garbage like that. Most webmasters don't want their links to appear on pages with "bad neighborhood" links.

Yes, instant approval IMHO looks more like a link farm that a directory. Google says that it considers "editorial discretion" in rating a directory. If all submissions are approved and there is no "quality standard" then G considers it poor quality.

All the above and it might have something to do with your "instant approval directory" looking a lot like a forum....

instant approval directory is a spammy directory. Admin may remove link after been posted, but it's looks like he doesn't care of content of own directory.

Instant approval implies that their is no human editorial process, hence some people feel that any old spammy site will be listed - making the directory less authoritative in its content.

Instant approval means automated bots will be constantly submitting to your site. And all kinds of rubbish are going to appear. Would I submit to one? Actually yes! Would I submit to 100's of instant approval directories? No. I think thats when there's too much SPAM around your link. One directory is fine, hundreds are not.

It depends on the type of site too. I know webmasters that have no qualms about the quality of their links. They'll submit, resubmit and the submit a couple more times for good measure. Whether it hurts their sites or not I don't know but they seem to be doing just fine.

Install approval is easy for you but not for site owner. We're concern about the quality of listing site and eager to wait rather than been listed in the directories that listed low quality sites.

As far as I think, only those webmaster can guaranteed to approve sites instantly who really do hard work on his/her directory. That's also right that the approved sites should be good and must have right and correct title / description relevant to the submitted site. I think, Google don't care whether you're approving sites instantly or taking more than 1 months to approve them. Google will find the site only if your approve the site and appear on the page. Taking lots of time to approve sites or showing thousands of pending details on home page can't help us to become trusted site of Google.

If you're doing and approving site instantly....then i think it's all right. Approving sites instantly or taking more than months have nothing differences between them. You're maintaining your site very well. Google don't know anything about how much pending sites are stored on your database :) But as all the buddies already told you that we've to maintain and approve only Good quality sites....that's a keypoint which we've to keep in mind. Bad neighborhood always create bother to become trusted of G!.

May be we hesitate to tell, but most webmasters who submit sites on directories do hope to get approve quickly.......so i don't have seen anything wrong with your directory.

Even Though links are approved quickly does not always mean that the webmaster is not cleaning out the junk. It just means that they want to populate it with some good links quickly.

In my opinion, if you clean up the junk often then you can have a good directory. It is probably possible to get good (efficient) at cleaning the directory up. Since most auto approval sites do not get rid of the junk there is a stigma.

The key would also be to have good editing to stop automated submissions from getting in. Some people have also stopped submissions with words like viagra in them.
