    Please suggest a reliable webhosting package for image galleries, something like under $5/month for hosting omage galleries based on Mihalism or similar image hosting script. Clickable Thumbnails will be posted on high traffic message boards which will open up full page if clicked on.
    I know of many hosting companies who initially will promise 2000GB/2TB bandwidth but raise hue and cry when daily UV reaches 10000.
    So if anyone has any experience with a web hosting company that allows such hosting with a no non sense approach, please suggest it here

    Hey, I´ve been hosting with these guys HERE and I´ve had no problem with bandwith even though I have a high traffic website. Good support too!

    I think you should go for proxy hosting :) Try TmzHosting if your images are legal and non-adult. You can check the website listed in my siggy, it has many offers. Cheers!

    Can you please mention whether you are starting or do you have an established site ? How many UVs are you expecting and so on..

    Do not go with the generic unlimited providers and also those who promise life time accounts or those with impractical offers.

    To be honest, a VPS is a good way to start a File / Image Hosting website so you can stay away from the fuss of moving a shared account to another VPS and then to a dedicated server.

    any host offering 2tb bw for $5/month is BSing, just go with a small package at first if you don't already have something established and as the site grows, look for upgrades, don't over buy and over pay for resources

    Thanks everyone for your comments. I have used image hosting earlier also but plan to start afresh. Hope to have at least 5000-10000 UVs/day with upto 20000 soon. Shared hosting plans work upto 10000 UVs and then you get a suspension notice in your face.

    elbisnero, the host you mentioned is pretty cheap but what kinda BW and space are you using? I simply can't fathom the wisdon of them putting up hostgator's ads on their page.
    a vps would be pretty cool but an alternative is godaddy's grid hosting plan which is scalable and very cheap now a days.

    VPS are the best choice to do that or a semi-dedicated hosting if you don't want get suspended again.

    I would suggest you MediaTemple or Datagram. They are rock solid and PERFECT! As you are saying, 5000-10000 UVs a day... If you want to survive in Shared Hosting you can go for any big company BUT only give Thumbnails to your users i.e hotlinking. If you allow direct image linking you can expect upto 3-4 TB Bandwidth usage a month with those amount of visitors. For $5 you can try TmzHosting Proxy Plan which is for $5.99 offering 50 GB Space and 110 GB Bandwidth. They have no CPU Limits in proxy plans and legit adult is allowed. But I guess its a bit expensive for what you are looking. Proxy Hosting is the best for you or a VPS/Dedicated. If you need any help with the hotlinking coding in Mahalism Multi Host, I would love to help you :) Just my 2 cents :)

    Have you found any hosting yet and as this is a small site i guess only small bandwidth is required in the early stages but what time span have you put on for hitting the 5-10k a day bracket.Is this going to be a adult image site as this can cause more problem than normal host,i am just signing up with hostuplink* com with a starter package and will see how that goes.The vps or dedicated is not a option at this stage while the site is being setup and promoted.Good luck

    You have budget for small web hosting account while looking for the VPS server (according to the requests). Budget and request do not match. Once they match you will have right solution for your needs
