With the new year here, having the right niche to make a little money can sometimes just be perfect timing. I just posted an article "The Best Niche to Persue at the Beginning of 2009 " that list the 4 must have niches of 2009. Find out what niche I ranked number to earn some money in 2009.
Yes it would be interesting to know what you based your choice on. After checking your site, I think weight loss is always a winner, I don't watch TV of any sort, so I don't know about that area. Debt free info is probably a good niche and yes I think your right about the videos. Perhaps you should have links on your blog to an affiliate program, or did I miss them.
I sort of don't agree with the first two - or think these are niche topics that should have been developed at least six months ago to catch the rush. The analysis is spot on: People look for diet and weight loss products at the beginning of the year, but if you don't rank for those terms as of today 1/1/09, and you do a bunch of content writing and promotion, you're probably going to notice ranks in the middle of summer at best. By then, everyone is giving up on the beach/swimsuit idea and going back to looking for cookies. Same thing with the digital TV conversion. If you weren't already capturing that kind of traffic, don't bother chasing it now. It doesn't even have the long-term benefit of weight loss - its not like people will be looking up FCC digital transitions in 2010 or 2011. The last two - I imagine they'll be growth segments for years and years to come. Completely agree with that part of the article.
Weight loss is a niche but it is in my opinion totally thrashed to death - there are shed loads of sites on weight loss. Probably the thing to do is to look a couple of levels further down for a micro niche such as DIETING / DIETING ON A BUDGET / CHEAP DIET MEALS. Or ONLINE VIDEOS / MAKING ONLINE VIDEOS ON A BUDGET otherwise you are competing with a hell of a lot of people.
I don't know about digital tv because I would assume anyone still using a tv with an analog signal doesn't have access to the internet.
