I've been displaying two ad blocks on all of my sites + two link units. However, I am going to go ahead and try the theory: "less ads = more money with AdSense" by simply taking out my bottom ad block. My layout consists of 1) horizontal link units under header 2) vertical link units at top of left nav 3) 336x280 ad block under "sponsored links" under blog post title. 4) 336x280 at end of each article. I'm removing number 4 from the picture. I'll let you guys know how it goes. My guess is this: I'll receive less clicks and make less money. But we will see... PS: I'm not removing link units because those units only contain keywords that take you to a page with actual advertisements. I don't think they will play a factor. Also, my CTR is quite decent. Trust me lol. (I'm using the Joel Comm method) if you were wondering.
I have tried it in past and it worked for me Less Ads And Well Placed Ads = More Money this is from my personal experience
It works if you have placed them well . Because if you have less ads than only top bidders get placed first , so we can make more money too .
Agreed, throughout my experience with Adsense fewer ads lead to greater profit. Plus, your users benefit by not being overloaded with ads.
I think i will try this theory on one of our forums, you just have to look at this forum and adsense is low profile and it must be effective otherwise they would change it would they not.
A good adv placement according to your template = Good Earning. You should experiment on places you put adv on.
How does that work? Surely if you have more ads then your going to get more clicks which = more money? Less adds mean less clicks = less money?
I have site that only has 1 ad block (120x600) on the right side. Generally not an optimal placement but in this case it has an average CTR of 10-15% this month. (odd things happen...)
Actually the thing is having all those units on ur site will drive visitors away, and will develop a kind of click prevention hehe, i recommend having less. yes
Yeah and sometimes with adsense less content=more money. What I mean is that I had two sites on similar topics. One I spent a lot of effort on the content, the other I didnt have time for. What I found is that for the site I spent a lot of time on gave people the answer they were looking for, so I had more internal link clicks or bounces. The site I left behind a bit, I havd a much greater clickthrough rate - my assumption was that they were still looking for more.
hehe, but that wont always work, because more content means more traffic :d so thats just a coinsidence
If I were you, I would take out the link units as well and replace with ad unit. I don't know about others but link unit has always faired poorly to me compared to ad units.
I've tried this as well and sometimes you get huge amounts of money per click might be a glitch or a one time thing as I was told before, I only have 2 ads header and footer centered. one time I got a $4 click
yes i recommend only 2 units like he said always used it, but footer, i kinda recommend a mid content one instead
