I know there are already a lot of threads for windows 7. But I am curious to know how many of you are waiting for windows 7? & have not upgraded there OS to vista. still using XP? how many of you are in my boat? I dont know but history repeats I think, As most of you out there I have been using computers since ages. & I just discovered the peculiar style I follow. I used to have win 3.1 then skipped win 95 & started win 98 then I used win 98 & then skipped winMe & win 2000 & started using win XP. If now I follow trend: I'm still using XP & might wait for windows 7. How many are with me?
Well I think the best thing that Microsoft has released so far is the Windows 98, very stable operative system. The XP version is nice, but with some big security flaws and vista is the worst thing they could have come up with. I really hope that this new operative system they're working one is better. I really hope it doesn't consume that much of RAM. Regards
For me good thing on vista is that my DVD RW can read all discs and bad thing on xp it only reads SONY DVD + R
Huh, come on.. Stop complaining about RAM. How many computers are running less than 2GB? And what is the price for some decent RAM today? $150 for 4GB Corsair or G.Skill RAM? Technology is moving a step forward everyday, you can't complain about an operating system that should hold for 10 years (2007-2017) uses the same amount of RAM as an old operating system like XP or 98. How many GB of RAM were common in 2000? 256-512 MB?? If you aren't ready for using the new (and standardized) technology, stop running products that uses these technologies, and STOP complaining about it. Personally, I'm looking forward to try Windows 7 more (I've tried the latest release given at PDC), and HOPEFULLY, I will get a beta in January or February.
You are not peculiar at all. 98& XP are microsoft's major releases. Lots of organizations just wait for major releases to update their information system to be stable and save cost. I bet lots of organizations around the world still stick to xp for long time ahead. And the number still using 98 is out there. By the way, i change to linux for about a year, good things, bad things. But i hardly come back.
@estator: And Vista isn't a major release? I think that's the OS from Microsoft that has got most new features and design changes ever? And how long time did it take to develope? 7 years?
i will use xp till windows 7 is out for long time... because first want to see how good windows 7 will be... vista sucks.. so will never update to vista
I'm personally not switiching over to Vista because I've heard from some buddies that work at Microsoft that there will be no upgrade version of Windows 7. That means that no matter what OS you have now, you will HAVE to buy the full version of Windows 7 and have a complete reinstall of your system. What's the point of buying Vista now if I will have to buy a full version of Windows 7 soon? Might as well stick with XP until 7 comes out...
@estator: I have the same suspicion LOL, they hastily released beta version & named it Vista!!! @sweet sugar: that's not XP problem for sure. I can run any DVDs good to see there are some people (majority of people?) with me
Hi, My friend attented the MS Conference on 28 Oct, and he got the Windows 7 6956 edition in vhd format and I am using it, I must say it is AWESOME!!
aha! so my perception was right then, I am not alone here. It's really surprising though, But I wont draw any conclusion just now... c'mon just 16 votes?
