very nice. but you can't say pligg sites get indexed fast. It all depends on how strong the domain is.

What is the power of these sites in gaining backlinks? I guess they aren't as strong as i.e. digg.com or mixx.com.

A pligg site is basically a Digg clone. It's a free CMS which acts almost exactly like Digg. You can download Pligg for free at http://www.pligg.com.
The benefit of Pligg sites: You can submit to a whole list of them very quickly (if you know what you're doing) and they are indexed very quickly. They are indexed very often (sometimes listing a page on your site will get you indexed within an hour). Many are dofollow and give you one way links for free.
