In case anyone was interested, I recently emailed Adsense about using Amazon's new Omakase ads on the same site as Adsense, and they said it was good to go. Here's their exact response to my question: If you don't know, Omakase works the same way as Adsense, but it delivers products specifically from Amazon's inventory to your site. It apparently will "optimize" your specific page using keywords. Basically it's Amazon's version of Adsense, and why I initially thought it couldn't possibly be allowed by Adsense. But lo and behold, it is. Omakase is currently in beta right now, and I've been using it on a few of my sites. I'll update how it's doing if anyone is interested.
thanks jack i think i will try amazon with adsense so please can you provide me with details to join amazon and how does it work and what is Amazon's Omakase with examples ?
Yeah it would be interesting to see how Omakase pans out. How well is your ads being targeted against your keywords?
It's not, say, Adsense-relevant, but it's better than the old Amazon ads. If you have, say, a high traffic tech site, this might do well for you...
Interesting, I actually do have a tech site that I could test this with. Cheers for the heads up on this one.
That's good to hear. I didn't even think about it before I decided to give it a whirl. Glad I stumbled upon this thread. Seems to pulling pretty good relevant stuff so far.
I contacted adsense help too regarding Omakase and got a different response, though it is kind of a general response. This is what I wrote: Hello, I wanted to know if it is a violation of adsense TOS/program policies to run Amazon.com's new beta Omakase Link ads on the same page with Google Adsense? I am unsure if this falls under the category of being a "competitive ad" service. Thank you This was the response I got word for word: Hello XXXXX, Thanks for checking with us before using Omakase ads on your website. In general, AdSense program policy does not permit Google ads to be published on the same page as other contextually-targeted ads. You can review this, and all Google AdSense program policies, at https://www.google.com/adsense/policies . However, you are welcome to display those ads on pages of your site that do not include Google ads. For additional questions, we encourage you to visit the AdSense Help Center (http://www.google.com/adsense_help), our complete resource center for all AdSense topics. Alternatively, feel free to post your question on the forum just for AdSense publishers: the AdSense Help Group (http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help). Sincerely, Dave The Google AdSense Team So it seems to me that different Adsense help rep.'s are giving different answers? For now I removed the Omakase ads just to be safe. I have read here and on other boards of people getting emails from Google saying that it is within guidelines to use Omakase and adsense on the same page, so now I am rather confused.
Awesome. I just noticed the OkieBoy (5 points for the movie/book reference) ads when I logged into my Amazon Aff. acct the other day (First time in months, with $$ waiting for me ) I had not gotten around to the email, so thanks JB.
I just got a reply that it is not ok....Damn, I could have put it to good use. Perhaps on a case by case...Good for you JB =)
I received this today from Google, after much back and forth: I guess they made up their minds. Anyone having good results? I have seen not so well served ads in places. Love to hear your experiences...
Why would it be a problem to have them on the same page anyway? The Amazon ones aren't really all that relevant to your page content. Instead it seems to have more of a focus on what the individual user has previously shown an interest in. For example... I have the omikase links on the site I'm building at BizAmmo.com (look at http://publicrelations.bizammo.com as an example on the right side). When I look at my pages, I see ads for things like "guerrilla marketing for consultants" and "music law" because they're two titles I've personally searched for recently. I had a colleague look to tell me what she was seeing, and she was seeing ads for books dealing with preschoolers, b/c that's what she's been looking for at Amazon while placing ads on her own site... so it didn't have the slightest bit to actually do with public relations titles. Perhaps it pulls more from the content if the reader's never searched Amazon before, but I doubt that would happen too much... so it's really no competition to Adsense. Jenn
Yes, I know, hindsight is 20-20. But if the answer was as easy as the two of you try to make it out to be, then it wouldn't have taken Adsense over a month to FINALLY decide.
