Hi theres a discussion going on about DP at Sitepoint.

And the conclusion is DP is highly unprofessional with the owner of this forum not worrying about backing up databases. Have to say i agree with this.

And unless this is fixed, forum will continue to decline.

Shawn would seem to be busy with everything else, as the website owner. The admins, i am not so sure about.

Their are issues sometimes, which are not always in their control, so give them a little break people.

Maybe, i have issues with the Mods here for giving me 3 Infractions in less than 24 Hours for the most pettiest things, but they still work hard and try to do their jobs.

    Enjoy Your Day,
    ~ Mike

Its not about giving them a break. If you have a forum earning 200 K + a year. You would surely back up the database.

Similar to mods banning threads like this. Which is really childish. I spose they think im going to wait or you or someone else is going to wait until the ban runs out. Nowadays, its not like that, people just move to Site Point for good.

Sitepoint has its own problems too. I guess all big forums do.

True, i am on 4 Infractions now, one more and the automatic ban should come into play and i do not want that, since i am here a lot; as well as many other forums...

They need to use their powers sparingly, like i do as a Super Moderator over at Geek Point Forums.

I am sort of new to this forum. I have been more of a lurker than a poster. But I am totally unfamiliar with Sitepoint. For some reason I thought they just sold websites over there. I will have to check it out when I get a chance.

The comparison to sitepoint is so old now... Check the old threads and read over those, Let DP be DP and let sitepoint be sitepoint. If other forums are better then stay on those

Shameless i am not, the infractions were for petty things which the Mods may have PMed about, accidents most of the time.

The VB auto ban is default set to ban at 5 infractions so i am not that far away.

I don't like Sitepoint, I know they want to be original with their design and all, but it's just too crowded and I can never get around it. I don't like forums where you have to pay either, it just gets on my nerves, you know, forums were made to discuss with others and all that, we shouldn't have to pay. Another thing is that if we were trying to sell something, isn't there a chance that we don't have money in the first place?!

I love DP, but I can say it's really disheartening to lose an account with 1100+ posts and 53 positive itraders (like I did). Not the end of the world, and I'm still here, obviously, but a disappointment nonetheless.

Interesting post, i viewed it, and at least they are looking for donations for a new server.

the actual website; www.digitalpoint.com looks poorly designed to me, but what are everyone else views on this.

It's only 5 for absolute newbies. You, personally, have to get 10 points so you should be fine.

are there any other forums that even come close to caping to the size of dp. I was very disappointed when my last account got deleted in the server issues, and for what i known there is no other as large as dp.

SitePoint has more users online. All the time. And a better forum.

And most people are making a lot of money from it.
