Hi, I'm writing this topic to inform you the proxy business is totally nothing these days... The reasons: 1) Every admin wants to make 15894984 proxies, so every proxy get 25 uniques a day instead of before, where there were only 1000 proxies with an easy 1000 uniques per site 2) All admins want so much proxies, so they make crappy subdomains/maps with a proxy on it... it makes proxy business as bad as the worst scammer on DP 3) Everybody submits 'sh*t' to tech-faq.com etc... just scroll down the list and you will see stupid subdomain proxies... 4) The owners start... but their hosting companies fail... 70% off all sites on proxy lists (tech-faq.com / proxydex.com etc.) are offline... they have a system which deletes proxies that are offline, but FE a page with 'this site expired the *** , renew it on godaddy.com' that is online, well the system will say the proxy is online... so... (nothing against those sites, because I really like that site but it's the way it is...) 5) People want to earn a lot, but don't want to spend a lot... so you get thousands of sloooow proxies and the 'fast' proxies don't survive, because of those stupid crappy proxies... Well.. I'm for a long time in proxy business, but I'm willing to stop because of all those crappy proxies/proxy owners... I hope this is a message to all newbies that they will stop building crap proxies etc... Don't build a proxy listing site f.e. which you will never update.. (my proxy list site; http://proxyz.ws , shows automaticly when the site last updated with new proxies...) Hope all noobs will stop now? Someone has comments or who agrees? Please comment to this topic! GReetz
I honestly don't know a lot about this. But it makes sense. If your right though it sucks for someone like me who is just starting to get in the proxy business.
I'm a Proxy Network Administrator who takes his job seriously and I totally agree with you. It's just irritating to see new proxies popping up everyday from out of nowhere on a stupid free subdomain on a free webhost... I pay for quality. I'm on a VPS with 1 TeraByte Bandwidth and 24x7x365 support from a solid company which has been in the business since 2004 (they just solved an urgent problem within 15 mins, thats what I call quality). Yes, this costs money but I call it an investment. So please guys, go on a hike of you want to get rich fast with proxies on a co.nr domainname with 000webhost.. you are screwing things up for us !
Don't give up. Aim higher infact. If you have what you would consider good proxies, then you'll easily be able to beat the webmasters with poor proxies, assuming you can market them right (which I know you can because I know you're a successful proxy owner). Keep your head up, and once the crap proxies go down yours will have a better advantage.
I wont give up, maybe Aquarezz does (less competition for me ) but I wont. I think this topic is just for him to loose some steam and I totally agree with him. I'm confident that my proxy services will attract more visitors as time passes by. They just need to see "ah that's an long term fast proxy". Same with Vtunnel... most known proxy, also took some time before it went as big as it's now. The only reason I can archieve this is with good equipment. Lucky to say I have the right gear. Now I need the traffic (and no crashing DNS servers hehe.. but I got backup now).
Yeah stop i support you to stop operate in proxy biz. There is too many proxy out there nowsaday. Last time i use to earn $20+/day from 2 of my proxy but now only manage to earn max $10/day
Well yeah.. I'm frustrated from all those stupid proxies But yeah.. I can bring my proxies to the top if I want easily... I know MOST of the proxy thingies already that 90% doesn't know... But it's just yeah... ah doesn't matter... I will keep going till I'm 18 (so 2 years and 5 months ) and than I will sell EVERYTHING Thanks for the heads up dudes but yeah... WE must do something against all those noob proxy owners... if someone has an idea please tell me Greetz
Nuclear bomb sounds pretty good? Might have a side effect and destroy the world, though Seriously though, nothing can be done. They have as much of a right to create proxies as you, me and Joe the Plumber, and no one can stop them, you just have to learn to live with it.
Well, I am surprised you think that way aquarezz. It must be because I am a newbie too and not too aware of what is going on in the proxy environment but I haven´t noticed or at least am not aware of what you are saying. My proxy is 3 months old and I get between 700-900 unique visitors per day and have an average of 200,000 impressions per day also. 60% of my traffic comes from the US and 15% from the EU. I don´t want to post the url because I am getting it redone based on a new monetization model that I don´t think (based on my research) anyone else is applying. I found how to stop making $XXX per month at the most and start making $X,XXX per week without too much hassle. Of course this is theory and I have to test it first but I really think it will be hard for it not to work. So at least from my view of things, I couldn´t agree with you. But of course, Im just a newbie.
I am starting one proxy. i dont think that you post! I develop my proxy go to the best proxy. I am fast Proxy eiei! ... It my think only
I run a Proxy List site (at my sig) and I totally agree with you, I just delete from my site like 3000 proxies submitted and not working or redirected to a parked pages, some webmasters submit 100s of proxies and when has some traffic starts a new thread here selling their "proxy network", I am really tired of those people and I don't list his proxies in my toplist anymore.
Yes totally true.. my toplist just started but once it becomes active (need to do some more promotion first) it will be the same way I think... And the marketing technique is euhm... it's hidden in my first reply... But if you know, don't tell it Greetz
Seriously its quite frustrating ! .. But still i am trying to run them to the way i can ! ... But the only thing we can do is to IMPROVISE as far as we can ! Hosting .. Script .. design ...........
Disagree with this, the proxy market is big enough for all the proxies that are being created. The problem is that proxy owners don't know how to pull in the traffic to make their proxies sustainable. Another problem is education. There are still millions of people who don't even know what a proxy is. Just the other day I was explaining to my sister how she could access her facebook account from work because she was adamant that it couldn't be done due to the firewalls. Agree with this, the subdomains, etc just make it look spammy. I refuse to list subdomains on my proxy list. Not to mention half of those that use this practice wouldn't be able to handle any serious traffic anyway. There are easy ways to deal with this, the owner just needs to invest in a semi-decent programmer and it can be fixed. The example you give is one of the hardest to detect from a programmers perspective. Because the domain responds to requests it will pass most of the script tests which current proxy list software provide. There are tests which can be implemented to detect based on the content that is returned, but this can be bandwidth intensive and most proxy list owners wouldn't know how to manage / implement it. The third issue is that quite a few domain registrars don't display the expiry date of a domain name when a whois query is requested. So there are quite a lot of challenges which a programmer faces when trying to keep a proxy list clean. Trust me I know because I am trying to do it. This happens in every niche on the Internet. There will always be those who skimp on promotion, servers, etc. But at the end of the day these are the ones who generally don't earn a great deal anyway. That would be a shame, at the end of the day niether you, I or anyone else will be able to stop them. Don't give up because of other fools, just make your business bigger and better.
the problem is that proxies are so so easy to set up, meaning they are usually the first site you have, once people see there not going to make millions like the ebook said they would they give up and move on to the next make money idea someone flashes in front of them. Leaving thousands of crap or dead sites clogging up the web
