This might be one of the thoughts in AdSense publishers' mind. Apart from making site popular etc. what are the ways to improve Click Thru Rate for AdSense Ads.
In my mind, some basic ideas come up - like placing google ads at noticeable places on webpage.. with appropriate color selection for Ads etc.
Are you guys have much more ideas about this.. share with me!

I have found that adding a background image to encompass and promote the ads works well (like a drop shadow frame). Site integration is key, making it look like part of the natural navigation. As I write that, I feel like I am now trying to trick people into clicking the ads. That isnt good. As long as it helps the consumer.

A good way to improve click-through rate is make the adsense banner look like your site, same background, same link color etc.

As long as it merges within the website, and it's relavant, it's perfect.

Just be creative and think on people's behavior when you plan your page layout.

Maybe the Eye Track III Research can help you figure that out.

    http://www.poynterextra.org/eyetrack2004/main.htm

Last year, when that research was released, I used a few of the concepts to relocate some of my AdSense blocks and the CRT instantly tripled.

It’s a great study, full of information and tips. You just have to remember that no site is exact to another and you have to adapt the concepts to your own site(s).

Everything mentioned in this thread is correct. But they are all onpage or aesthetic. I have found basic SEO to be the single most influencing factor for EPC.

You will fund lots of AS stuff here http://www.createonlinebusiness.com/adsense_index.html

Some also suggest that using AdWords to promote AdSense works well.

Reading this thread and then going to the Eyetrack III article I decided to reposition and reconfigure the Adsense on one of my blogs. It had been a two panel upper right hand, vertical adsense mini tower.

I changed it to an inline, site colour matched, two panel shown in just above the comments on the top three posts.

    TOS and all that prohibit....

5x the click average click throughs. 5X!

Thanks to all who posted...It isn't FedEx and it is early days; but 5X for ten minutes redesign....

    Congratulations!

Excellent evidence that proves that one doesn't need obscure fraudulent or deceiving techniques to increase your AdSense income.

    I'm glad the advice helped.

    Nice page BTW.

Long time no posting here but I couldn't resist this one.
Is Google relaxing his rules? Your site is beautiful, no doubt about that. In fact, I wish I have the time to look all around your archive. Already bookmarked though :)
But, in my opinion, the content is too close to the verge of lesbianism and eroticism. I have read some of your user’s responses and almost all are sex related too. Besides, you display porn ads and your copyright statement and title tag Oh boy! How comes? Please don't misunderstanding me. I'm not criticizing your blog, I'm just asking whether your site content is or is not against the Google TOS. If not, I have some ideas for my next site. :D

Thanks for the compliments and the questions.

On the sex question....Lingerie Dreams is, quite deliberately, no more a sex site than any lingerie site is. Yes, pretty women wearing very little...but they are all wearing something. So no nudity, no overt sex. It really is just a pinup site before pinups became rather nasty. Think Maxim and FHM. Provocative is not (well not yet) porn.

Putting the adsense code in is a snap. You build the 2 ad horizontal panel and then put it in just below the "comments" tag. Google will only display three panels on a page so it automatically defaults to the top three posts.

The results are holding up today: 5X the average click throughs. I can't tell the people who posted earlier how grateful I am.

    Hi Johncr,

Reading your post I took a quick look at my title content:

"Lingerie Dreams: Pretty girls in bras, panties, stockings and garters: Fashion models, young girls, pinups all in lingerie"

This is pretty much what the blog is about. I deliberately didn't put in "hot babes, teens...." and all the other porn heavy keywords. I really don't want that audience.

Judging from my mail I have about a 25% female readership and that is going up. But a lot of the men who write tell me what a relief it is to have a site which has pretty girls but is not skanky.

More generally, yahoo is getting ready to launch its own version of adsense and, at a guess, will allow a few topics which Google currently is unwilling to allow. It is becoming a competive marketplace and that has to be good news for publishers

Google is gonna allow panty sites..plian and simple. It is against the requirments. It doesnt matter if it is porn or not. Thats just the google policy. And yahoo's PPC service isn't due for a loooooooooooong time, if ever.

Although blending in the ads may work for some sites, it's definately not the best solution for all sites. It's all a matter of testing what works for your own sites.
