Can you imagine your Technorati ranking being in the thousands? Picture your name right there next to the likes of Darren Rowse or Brian Clark.

Another way to promote your site is to open a thread in DP and post some links to yours :p

I don't think it is being allowed here at DP, as there are strict rules about blog promotion. The best thing one can do is to use attractive blog post title, and DP visitors might check it out when they see on top of your message. You may use mine as I think it is a good example.

Relax, he was just joking ;)

By the way what is Technorati Authority useful for? I can't see any benefits...

In short, a popularity contest, huh? But I think being popular can help, as long as many visitors will love your blog (content, I mean).

    Yes. Branding in short.

You can create a list of technorati enlisted site and try to contact the owner and agree on one thing, exchange link. After the links are recorded in technorati, you can either delete it or not.

Yea, although Technorati only counts links gained within the last 6 months.

Honestly it looks like too much effort for little to no benefit at all.
Unless of course you don't get in the Technorati Top 100 by doing that.
    But since it's a manual selection, it's impossible :)

Being in the top 100 is quite prestigious though, I mean one of the top 100 blogs out of 63,000,000+ must be an awesome feeling.

Authority helps the user in filtering searches at Technorati. You can choose to search the higher authority sites only, or all of them ... including splogs. There are a couple of in-between authority ranges as well. I usually start at the highest and work downward until the garbage comes into the results.

I haven't really utilized Technorati nor optimized my link building campaigns for it yet, but frankly I don't see how commenting can increase your Technorati rank, I thought Technorati only looks at links within a post, similar to a trackback?

That is incorrect, Technorati counts any outbound links on the page at the time of the post being published.

Basically, the dude took and rehashed an article on 'blog promotion' in general and applied the 'technorati' implications to it. If it works for promotion, it should bump your authority ranking at Technorati as a 'side-effect'.

Commenting on other blogs is a promotion technique to get a blog owner to notice your blog, and therefore may have an impulse to link to you in the future. Comments, in general, will not boost your Technorati authority.

As for the article, there is nothing new or surprising to learn from it. It was just a OP to get you to click through to his blog.

That is not correct. They take links from the feed, not the published page. Comments are (or can be) in a separate feed altogether and are not included in the post feed.
