    Hi All,

As i m working on ecommerce portal as my site ranks well in Google.co.in. It is in top 20 searches with the single keyword "Books", "Gifts", "Toys" and many more.....

Buy if we search the same in other search engine like google.com, google.co.uk, google.com.au etc the site is no where ..... and as a result we are not gaining the traffic from these regions especially kindly suggest me what i will do so that the same will start ranking in these regions.........

    Thanks

My guess is that your site at the moment have a majority of its links from Indian sites, since you rank well on co.in. If you want to improve your position in other regions, you will need links from sites that are based in these regions as well.

It is very natural of it to happen as the main reason for Google having those different versions was to list websites that are more apt for a particular region than the other. It is what is called Geo targeting. Now Geo targeting is implemented by search engines to serve more relevant results.

There are various factors that search engines use to decide which region is more apt for a websites. Some of them are TLD, physical location of hosting server, in bound links, etc. So you would rank high say on Google.co.uk but would not have the same ranking on Google.co.in.

That's fine but what especially we have to do to improve the ranking or to increase the traffic from other regions. Is there any specific set directories / forums / blogs sites for these particular regions.
If yes then how can i find the same one on the Internet.

Maybe most of your links are from local sites? That could be the reason.

Just work at getting more backlinks, especially links from US based sites (or whatever country you want to target). A while ago I hired an Indian SEO guy, but since he was focusing on getting links from other Indian sites, we ended up with rankings on google.co.in too. After I got rid of him, I just focused more on US links and our .com rankings eventually went up too.
