Google displaying meaningless snippets

Since early last week I observed Google has been displaying meaningless snippets of website and blogs, including mine.

    Examples:

1 Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. blinkbits · BlinkList · blogmarks · co. ...

2 21 Sep 2008 ... Leave a Reply. Name (required). Mail (will not be published) (required). Website.

Since the majority of my webpages and blogpages were omitted (some entries very similar to the ... already displayed) I had lost a lot of traffic.

    The blog's post

Why Google is desccribing this way? Where does "Name (required). Mail (will not be published) (required)." come from?

    Please comments. Thanks.

Unless you use meta description Google picks the snippets automatically; and thats often not much pretty. You should add the meta description if you wanna make sure it looks nicer.

Are you using the description meta tag in your pages?

Wow! Two big fellows responding to my question.

All the snippets were showing alright in the past. What had happened?

Do you recommend Head-Meta-Description Plugin (desc below)?

doesn't matter what the meta is.
for long tailed keywords, when someone searches, on site text can show instead of the meta.
in your example,"website" was one of the keywords,so it pulls that word and text around it.

i'm guessing you don't have the word "website" in you meta and anywhere on site except for a box to enter your website.
    that is why. :)

using a plugin in like that is a good idea, but still doesn't guarantee it always will show the meta. ;)
