Hello guys, I run a few sites where i have placed some google ads to generate income but i can't get good CTR. I see many people around sharing information about how to increase their CTR, but they all seem to care more about clicks rather than about the user experience. And that's my problem, i like to keep my sites clean, ads with ads content with content. My question is this, do you think it's possible to run a site and get good money from adsense without putting intrusive ads in the middle of the content, or blending them with unnecesary images, or using bright colors etc etc.? I'm tired if seing that kind of sites. I had a though about the internet been made to share information, but now it seems getting money is more important. Of course i care about money, but wouldn't it be better to develop good content and have a few ads, instead of a page full of them?. And still you earn good money?. Gaston
Spot on matey, that's what I think.. and yeah it's possible for a modest CTR without been obtrusive or spammy. People just won't naturally link to these spammy looking websites.. and natural links count for long term sucess. Try a 336 rectangle after short articles. Gives them somewhere else to go that usually compliments the article content. Depending on how targetted your content is you could fetch 5-15%.. have a play. Pete
No i'm not talking about any specific website, i was just wondering what are the general thoughts about this matter. Gaston
It does sometimes seem that ugly sells, with Adsense as with other websites. I think changing ad elements may be necessary to keep up interest in them. Otherwise your subtle blending may be too tasteful and restrained, and go entirely unnoticed. Of course, contrasting colours do not necessarily have to be gaudy. You just need something that stands out within the overall colour scheme of your page.
