A web domain has copied every bit from my blog and created his own site. What are the options available for me to get him remove the content ? I know his domain name but not the email address.
Here are a couple of positive steps you could take: http://docs.yahoo.com/info/copyright/copyright.html https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=9894&topic=145
Send him nice email to remove the content because it is illegal. I did that when some forum owner just copied my history timelines into the posts and he removed it next day.
amit : Email him first. It is the best way. Don't go official right away. Settle this down with him and if he don't want to remove it then go official with his hosting company
Do a whois search using one of those whois tools out there. Here's a good one: http://whois.domaintools.com If it's not a privately reg domain, there should be an email address.
What are the options that I have now ? I contacted the domain owner via email and he responded saying that not he but I copied his content. That's strange because his domain is just a month old and my site is about 3 years old. Here's his reply: Anyway, I think I must disclose the details now and then request for your options: My Website is http://labnol.blogspot.com It's mirrored by someone here: labnol.com Here's the whois record of this site: http://whois.domaintools.com/labnol.com Registrant: Contactprivacy.com 96 Mowat Ave Toronto, ON M6K 3M1 CA Domain name: LABNOL.COM Administrative Contact: contactprivacy.com, Whois Privacy and Spam Prevention by Whois Source 96 Mowat Ave Toronto, ON M6K 3M1 CA +1.4165385457 Technical Contact: contactprivacy.com, Whois Privacy and Spam Prevention by Whois Source 96 Mowat Ave Toronto, ON M6K 3M1 CA +1.4165385457 Registration Service Provider: iPowerWeb, Whois Privacy and Spam Prevention by Whois Source 888 511 4678 602-307-5438 (fax) http://IPOWER.com This company may be contacted for domain login/passwords, DNS/Nameserver changes, and general domain support questions. That's interesting, when you click the About Us link on the copied page, it goes to the Blogger profile of Evan Williams, the Co-Founder of Blogger. I guess your thief thinks he is quite clever...
Send BRINKSTER.com a mail telling about this. I am sure that they will take the required action. I had similar exp. with someone and when I wrote the mail where he was hosted, they immediately closed his site.
Corruption. It's such a greedy world today. It's all about how one can find a way to rip someone else off.
it is so bad that people just do that. they can refer get idea, but why just copy the whole content as it is. and try make money. how long do they expect to go like this
