http://www.goldblox.com/money/adsense-format.htm I put a screen shot up, I have never seen this before. Have google started selling individual sections of towers for images? I think it would look pretty cool with all 5 showing as different ads. James.
They are doing all kinds of stuff, even allowing the user to change the ads they want to view by giving different topic options!
Saw an image in a skyscraper on one of my sites too. It's pretty cool I'd say. I hope the do the same for leaderboards.
I seen one on my site as well. It was a pic of a ps2 controller as my site is a gaming site. Thought it was a little strange at first, but realized it was just a new ad format probably being tested.
I have just seen one on my site aswell. I wish they would not do this. They should really contact you before messing around with the ads. The main reason why I chose to just have text ads showing on my site is because I didn't want image ads. So why are they doing this. It is nice that they are trying new things out, but don't forget that we design our sites so that they look professional. Now it looks as if there is going to be an image in some of the ads which looks like it shouldn't be where it is, if you get what I mean. You have all text and I few images nicely laid out on your page and suddenly there is an image in the text ad which looks like it shouldn't be in that location of your site. For example, You have your text content then you have the text ads with a image in one of them which is located in a weird place on your site and is really dark and doesn't fit in with your sites look and feel. Anyway, I hope that this works, but I think this really won't work as to me it just looks like an image and not an ad. People probably won't think about clicking on it. If it does work, which I hope it does as there will be more ad options for us to select from, I hope that they also include an option so that we can say whether we want this ad format or not. I wouldn't say it is a new ad format, I would say that it is a modification of an existing one. It would have been a good idea if they kept the old one and just included an option for a new ad unit code that shows the image.
I too saw it on my blog, screenshot here (120x600 format) http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/06/google-adsense-mixes-images-with-text.html
You have control over whether you show image ads or not. Go to your account settings and choose Text Ads only.
I saw one of these pop up too ... and double-checked to be sure ... and DID have "Text Ads Only" enabled ... so I think Google had a burp in that respect (?)
and I though that was some kind of a special option that you needed to enable in your ad display code before you could see that! apparently not, I guess...
Its about time they included images when you asked for them ¬¬ I've been set to "show text ads and images" for a while, but haven't seen one yet.
this is because the text ads pay better in most cases, and adsense serves the best paying ads to you.
Awesome. Less work for us. Now we don't have to mess around with putting pictures next to our ads for better CTR. Now G does it for us.
Unfortunately we don't have control anymore. Since I have been with Adsense for over 2 years now, I have always only shown text ads on my site. I have not wanted image ads and they have never been enabled and now I have seen images mixed in with the text ads. It is all wrong when you only want text ads showing and they are now putting an image ad in the ad unit aswell which actually just looks like a plain image and my users may actually think it is a none clickable image so they probably won't click it anyway.
I haven't seen any of these ads yet in my surfing. Is there a url where Google announce stuff like this?
This is good start by google as this approach would increase the CTR. But still having a image next the Ads would be better than having a mix of Image and text Ads.
I have seen one occurence of such ads on my site too. So is it still possible to put some images close to the ads in order to attract more users' attention now?
