Hi Directory onwers, Would you please share with us why do you reject any submission to be listed in you directories? I mean the reasons for rejections
Spammy site if it adds no value whatsoever to the internet as a whole. Affiliate sites with no physical addresses / contact information listed on their sites.
broken links in the sites, Pornographic photos and language. excessive ads and pop ups/under. A hundered more reasons but those 3 are my pet peeves.
The first reason is not allowed content like adult stuff. We want our directory (www.2space.net) accesseble for all ages. Other reasons are: same titles and descriptions as previous submitted sites. Otherwise this will result in the same results when performing a search. Pages of websites. We only accept the main domain names. Otherwise this will result in a lot of pages that don't work anymore. When sites are updatet a lot of pages disappear what will lead to broken links in our database. Main domain names last longer. Second reason is that we are a directory. It needs to be user friendly. When having a lot of pages of the same website it will be harder for the regular visitor to find the right site he needs. sites under construction: some sites stay under construction for months...
Here's a few reasons why I won't accept a site into my directory: - Site is still under construction - Adult content or illegal content - Adsense scrapper sites - Submitting site more then once (original submission will remain but all others will be rejected) - Sites that re-direct to another site - Excessive popups or popunders - No deep linking And the list goes on...
all the reasons stated above... also if I feel the website is set up to later put ads all over it I wont accept it. Basically, if the description sounds like the site is helpfull and worthy, but the site itself is just a picture of a car with an article which looks like "copy paste" with empty space all around.... ;-) I will not accept. Seems like someone is pulling a sneaky..
All my reasons for rejection are set out in the submission guidelines, which it seems hardly anyone bothers to read. They're there on most directories though, so if you want to understand what directory editors are looking for, check out these pages. But they mostly boil down to this: if a site doesn't have enough valuable, original content then I won't list it. That's why I usually reject sites that are collections of articles taken from elsewhere, and sites that have short articles stating the really obvious. If it's ecommerce, it has to be something I would trust enough to at least consider buying from. So if there are no phone and address details visible it doesn't get listed.
No Gambling, No Adult Content, Bad email, or undeliverable. Spamy sites, going out of the way to submit to the wrong category.. LOL!! Autos in the Animal section is a gross loss of attention to detail. Ha! Actually, I grin and bear the last one with a quick mod if the site is cool looking and different. Other than that, I almost never deny a submission.
I run a couple of "niche" directories. If the site submitted isn't part of that niche then it's rejected.
The number 1 reason for rejections is made for adsense sites, in 800x600 about 1 out of every 3 sites submitted have ads covering over 50% and up to 70% of the screen, most of those sites have no content other than to generate high paying keyword ads. The number 2 reason is submission to Parent categories.
if you read carefuly the guidelines and site submission policy, your site will approve by the owner.Mostly rejected reason is the submitter break the site rules
I reject every sites that doesnt submit in the rightful category regarding their sites content, a car site should be listed in sport > autos and not in recreation > Enthusiasts
These days I only reject a submissionis when they have not send payment to be added, I usually get a few per-day, and I reject them. I don't know why they go to the trouble of submitting it, it clearly stats that its $5. I guess they think that there website is unique enough to get added.
I rarely reject a sites, that is i'm kinda lucky so far that i dont get that many spammy sites, after all i am trying my darness to have a clean web directory. Sites I do reject... Made for Adsense stuff No original contents(free articles) on most of web pages as if it will be a MFAS later. Gabling sites that sucks or a paid gambling sites...I only accept or list Gambling sites that are free to play or reputable. For the most part I get the Title to be too long and I require it to be the title of their sites and not Keywords rich, But I guest that is why Im here for, so that I can edit it. I spent an entire week at a friends house with a 56k connection(AOL) and it is connected at 22kbps(a very very very very slow connection) Just imagine when I edit/Review sites...took forever, but i got it through
I usually reject for these reasons: a) wrong category - reviewing 200 links a day is time consuming. If the submitter can't be bothered to find the right category, it's deleted. b) keyword stuffing in the title. These stand out a mile. Delete them straight away. c) adsense-type sites. a pet hate. Also reject for reasons listed above!
Warez, illegal information, extra keywords, very long descriptions and Live links in Descriptions also Plus attention catching line like !!##LOOK##!! etc etc. are some of the previous experiences I have had.
Along with those mentioned I have a few 1. if,your,description/tittle,looks,like,this While I'll allow more than my norm, if it is a great site and the description/title makes a lot of sense. 2. Blank description Come on now.... 3. Multiple submissions of the same type of site. Really it's like MtnDew, there's Code Red, normal MtnDew, Diet MtnDew Livewire, and Baja Blast. When it comes down to it no matter how you look at it, it's still MtnDew. 4. Cigarette stores I'm all about making a buck on the internet, but hi let's peddle cancer and make a buck at the same time. I want no part of that.
