Many of the 'Tags' pages on Wordpress.com have high PR (PageRank), so when you assign tags to your posts, you will get a link back from the relevant Wordpress tag page. Also worth noting: Depending on the popularity of the tag, your link will stay on there for a few minutes to a few months - depending on how many other people are using that tag. I tend to use the popular ones for immediate indexing, but mix a few more obscure ones in too. Some of the obscure ones can have quite high PR too. Another trick is to try and dominate the page - and i'll tell you why: Most of the links on the tag pages are 'nofollow' which may or may not do you any good (that's open to debate). There are however two dofollow links on each tag page... I'll let you figure out which ones (a certain FireFox plugin will help). If you start to dominate the page - the dofollow links will be all yours... HTH
