How do I remove "Trojan.Zlob.D" and "Trojanpopuper" from my system. Norton Antivirus isn't doing the trick.
have you updated your norton antivirus definition? some times even with updated definition.. but having older version of n.a. ex: n.a. 2003, 2004, 2005.. may not pick up those viruses. i suggest you go to mcafee or microsofts beta virus program that you can do it online for free.. see if that helps? using different virus programs may take those out..
I would try these first... Free Online Virus Scanners Trend Micro: http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp Symantec: http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym&close_parent=true McAfee: http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9914 Panda: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm BitDefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php and if those don't do the trick you can always download a free 30-day trial of some other anti-virus software (besides Norton). My personal favorites are.. NOD32 by Eset PC-Cillin by Trend-Micro AVG Anti-Virus (Free Edition) by Grisoft I haven't tried Panda yet, but I also hear BitDefender is good, however BD is known for being overly protective and detecting a lot of things as viruses which really aren't viruses. Also, while we're on the subject on viruses/spyware here are some useful online anti-spyware tools you can check out... I used avg spybot search and destroy and adware then i have a very Crap virus called gspot.exe keeps on bugging me everytime i restart my PC.
You need to edit the registry. Probably best to make a backup copy first. Click Start, and click Run. The Run dialog box appears. Type regedit and then click OK. The Registry Editor opens. Navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run In the right pane, delete the value: WindowsUpdater %system%\GSpot.exe Exit the Registry Editor. Where the value "%system%" is variable. Then visit Trend Housecall, download the Active X application it needs to run and run it. Check your Registry again to make certain the trojan hasn't added the value again. If it has, repeat the above steps.
just a question... where did you get that virus? i mean is it from an e-mail attachment? a program? downloaded Mp3?
if you want a safer and more effective way to deal with such problem, maybe you should invest a little in paid antivirus/internet security software, like kaspersky. I've been using this particular security suite and so far so good. it removes all major viruses and malware, and it even stops these malicious scripts from running in your computer before it even loads via your web browser/software.
