Best way to promote a music website?

Hi, what would be the best way to go about promoting a blog (or website) that offers a variety of music from different artists?

I see some music blogs use youtube. Also can you please critique my hip hop music blog as I want to make it better.

I have a music blog myself and I have found out the best way to really bring in traffic in this order is

1. blogroll exchanges
2. SEO
3. Message Boards and Blog Commenting

It depends what it is for it to be promoted

 

Critiquing your blog :

1) I would change the logo / header at the top. The white outline around the word "Crave" looks ugly. No offense.

2) The red ad table in between the posts and categories hurts my eyes. Would change it to something more easy on the eyes. It screams click my ads now! which no one will do on purpose.

3) Right a bit more on each post. Just easier for search engines to grab your posts.

4) Relocate the RSS button to where the search input is and put the search input where the RSS button is.

I think that will help you in the future.

I do agree with Ramphix above, you can also check on the site http://www.sounddistrict.com and submit your block in the hiphop section for hits.

 

promoting a website over the Internet is like any other application.
If you haven't started a WordPress blog you should do so. submit your videos to Yahoo MSN and all the other video websites available online.

submit your videos to these applications and make sure you tag your videos with unique content and words.

make sure you use the Google ad words tool to submit correctly works for video.

Ensuring you are doing press releases about those videos.

I forgot to mention this above but you should take the time to download the videos off YouTube in FLV format and then upload them onto your server. This may make your bandwidth jump majorly from the views if you have high traffic but it will also help with complaints saying that the videos don't work etc.

At the moment I do not have my blog up but I used Mac-Dev's FLV player for WordPress. It has a nice little feature in which you can input a .PNG and it will brand all your videos so that your views will see your domain and also if they embed from your site to theirs then you will get more traffic usually. I agree above putting too many videos on your webpages could pamper your search engine rankings and also ruin your bandwidth. Using a good WordPress blog with video plug-ins should help promote your website faster.

If you have music related websites and you want to promotew it then you should to promote your websites in music communities or networking sites such as immem, last.fm, mog, soundpedia etc... and also you can add your video music in myspace, Google Video, YouTube, Vimeo....So from those sites you can get traffic on your site....

 

I would like to say you that do forum posting that can give you link back as well traffic on same time. Forum must be ralated to Music

Don't think anybody has mentioned it, it is normally one of the first few things someone says. Have you tried social bookmarking? Submit the music to Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit etc etc etc . . .

 

Also, the red adspace will be killing your click through. My eyes completely ignored that space and probably wouldn't have even seen it if I hadn't been looking for it.

The thing with adsense is that you want people to see things out of the corner of their eye that interests them while looking at the other content. With the red, you actually have to concentrate quite a bit to see what the adds are. Even then the red kind of draws your attention away from what the adds are saying.

 

There's a million ways, but think about this, make your music site world famous....if you can think like that, and keep that in mind you might make it.

 

although using red could be a red flag as far as absence is concern shouldn't worry too much about it. Because CEOs inessential are naturally indexed by all search engines including MSN Yahoo and Google. That's why MySpace.com is so popular on the Internet it's because they popularize their music videos like Yahoo and MSN. Although UTube is another fascinating place to get an application free lunch at target and focus his mind set on UTube so we can learn how to to do good deals and streamline their products and services .

start using UTube.com Shri Pioneer video applications and find out what everyone else is doing to broaden their rises as far as video broadcasting is concerned. Make sure your videos have highly relevant keywords in the back of them another good place to do this would be at Yahoo's Flickr.

Go to concerts and gatherings and hand out your leaflets, mix with your local music people, do some interviews and stuff. iow - raise your profile.
