If some of you are interested in beautiful very graceful and elegant tall ships from a bygone sailing era, you may be interested to know that the Funchal Tall Ships Sailing Regatta and Race starts today at 5pm UK time. Around 30 old time large sailing vessels from all around the world will be competing to get to Portugal in first place, setting sail from the port town of Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. Start of the race is just south of the Helford River, out in Falmouth Bay. Hundreds of thousands of people will be in the area to see the start of the race. You can see some of the action on these webcams, if any of you are interested. I'll also put up some of my own photographs in a day or so. http://www.kingharryscornwall.co.uk/webcams (Last four) The last one, Gyllyngvase Beach webcam, around 5pm (UK Time) you should see the fleet sailing past. You can check the harbour webcam to see when they leave the docks, Just give the vessels half an hour or so to round Pendennis Castle and Pendennis Point to come into view of the Gyllygnvase webcam which is facing south across Falmouth Bay. Start of the race will be towards the right of that screen. In other words all the tall ships will pass from left to right across that webcam. http://www.falmouth.tv/hlfish.php (Harbour and Tall Ships webcam)
