I have spent lots of time to create 3000 categories to by abstract directory. And then I press the uninstall link by mistake(tired after creating categories). Is there any chance I can get it undone?

Wow, I have a directory using the biz directory script and never realized that unistall directory link in the admin page. I think I'm going to edit the admin file to remove that link so I never accidentally destroy my directory.

general rule of thumb, save your work every 5 minutes(at most).

i've lost 10's of thousands of lines of code trying to be a smartass, code happy i dont need to save egomaniac.

    lessons learned (the hard way)

    now i'm an ALT + S / export fanatic :)

This is not things on my computer, it was the directory with all saved categories and links that I've been working on the latest few days. The whole database was deleted by one 1.5 inch wrongclick. Thumb-rule.. the first thing you should do when using Freephpdirectoryscript is to remove the uninstall link. It is way to close to the categories. Now I use PHPld instead(for other reasons).

Good thing! A link like that, with (no verification??) has to be removed asap. Wonder why anyone would want that option the first place in the admin script. Like an auto selfdestruct.

Must be what eg. highpagerank.net did. First lure alot of recips, and then clean the databases so you only have good PR incomming links, and start over. Ptfff

isn't the database saved elsewhere? It sounds really stupid to me to put such a link, without any verification or something... :( Sry about you dude..

Yes, unfortunately all I can say is back up your work.

I had a problem with Gazotto. With my ftp software i accidentally uploaded files that were supposed to be on my hidden re-design of Gazotto to another site. I then couldn't see changes on the re-designing site.

I lost my copies of those files and had to recreate them from the ones WP provided as I didn't have any files on my desktop.

    Guess what. Now I do.

Hope you can at least remember some of 'em though.

Maybe you can ask your host for a backup before that day? You might not be able to recover all, but at least those which you have added before that day (since you mentioned working on it for days).

I did something similar but there were over 15,000 listings in the categories. I almost sucked the chair up my a&% when I realized what I'd done.

Fortunately I had a backup and only lost one day of data.

Like one of the previous posters, I removed the "delete" links from ALL of the admin pages and now only use phpmyadmin for that.
