Don't ever use godaddy hosting. NO cpanel. NO ftp. Impossible to upload files. Tons of clutter and poor documentation. Everyhting loads very slow. Many file extentions dont load including .txt . PHP not working. Impossible to find FTP info. Just garbage. I wasted $14 on this crap so I have charged back the order. yes 14 may seem small for a chargeback, but I will not let those go-crappies take my money for this terrible service. They also clutter your inbox with tons of confirmation emails. BTW 9.98 domains ar a ripoff when yahoo sells em for $3.
I'm using godaddy for years now, it's dirt cheap and works well, imo. You can use an ftp program to upload your website.
I cant find the FTP info anywhere. It is probbaly burreid very deep within the clutter. I use my own FTP client. I tried calling support numbers but they dont work (480) 505-8877 Doenst matter the bank is refunding my $14. I have tried over a dozen hosting providers and godaddy is by for the worse. And I have been building sites and designing for years so its not like Im a noobie at this.
Adequacy of many hosts depends on web needs. A host that worked quite well for me for simple html sites became quite inadequate when trying to host an e-commerce site with them.
So far so good IMO. Not all the hosts are the same, you need to find the right place that meets your requirements
Haven't had a single unresolvable problem with GoDaddy in two-plus years. FTP uploads have been easy and lighting fast.
Use Filezilla for your ftp uploading All you do is enter your username and password with your url.... easy peezy
I hate to see you slam anyone because you failed to read your email. Sometimes it pays to read your email. Godaddy offers standard ftp support and your username and password were mailed to you. If you aren't happy with the services I am sure they will be happy to refund your money. As I recall it comes with a 30 no reason needed refund offer. The system is not cPanel and might not meet the needs of a person who needs to host more than a single standard site. But I have experienced no problems with the one site I have hosted there.
1. I have been using GoDaddy for weeks now. No trouble whatsoever. 2. I am not in US but GoDaddy's FTP is very fast. Faster than the "local" hosting company here. They give you the FTP username and password in the email. 3. I have 5 sites plus one sub-domain all running on their shared plans for a couple of bucks a month each (50GB hosting plans). That's pretty good value imo. 4. All my sites use PHP pages. They all work and have never given me any issues. 5. The mail server's fairly quick too. The other day I sent out a newsletter to one of my customer mailing lists. It was sent out to a few hundred of my customers and was completed in a matter of minutes. I would recommend setting up your FTP properly before you complain. Plus, check your PHP code before you claim that their PHP hosting is playing up. Finally, did you buy the right account?? Maybe you chose the Windows hosting plan (as opposed to the Unix plan) that will run with ASP etc. but won't work for PHP. If this is the case, change your account type to the Unix/PHP plan in your admin.
Another quick note about this. You can register domains for either $1 or $1.95 when you purchase a hosting plan .......
I have over 40 domains registered with GoDaddy and 5 sites hosted with them and have never had a bit of trouble. They have always been top notch and very responsive to any questions I've had. I should add that all my sites are simple HTML sites so I don't have need for any of the fancier stuff. But for my needs, I haven't found anyone better and I've tried a lot of hosts in the past 10 years.
Indeed. I have been with them for almost a month now, no problems. I'm using them just as a file server - a bunch of .txt files and images and things load quickly. You should get things straight before bashing a company publicly...
I have been using Godaddy for about 6 monts now and I have several different webhosts for all my sites and I must say that Godaddy.com is actually the best one of them so far. Many people complain about their FTP service and you should not use the built in CP.ftp at your account. Instead download a free FTP client and hook it up to your Gdaddy account that way it works perfect. Their e.mail support is one the things that i like the most, often you will get an answer back in 6-12 hours or so.
or vice versa After almost a year at GoDaddy I cannot figure out yet how to create my own name servers, when at Registerfly create and modify them is a piece of cake. If someone believe that Registerfly is bad with support (never to me since 4 years ago) try GoDaddy. It's really hard to find the links to their knowlege base and support is only available via phone, no chat, no email nor on-site either, although you can email them and if you are lucky in a few day they will reply :/
