I dont think you can transfer domain from Yahoo to any other registrar. I've tried contacting Yahoo, but no response. Very disappointed with their service for such a reputable company.

It would be illegal if Yahoo didn't allow outbound transfers.

Yahoo do allowed outbound transfers, though it is a real pain. I've done it numerous times. I usually register domain names through Yahoo for $15 for 5 years (increased price now) and then transfer them to another registrar with better interface and features.

Sorry to hear you're having problems transferring domain name away from Yahoo - they can make it a real pain.

You need firstly 'unlock' the domain at Yahoo. That is easily done via the online interface.

You need to make a transfer request FROM the registrar you're hoping to move the domain name to. The one I recommend is this one but there are, of course, hundreds of others.

You need to confirm the transfer by clicking on the links in the email(s) you will receive. It will take a few days.

If you have any problems then you can ring Melbourne IT on the numbers here. They handle Yahoo domain registration.

Yes, your domain name will get extended by one year on top of the period you have remaining.

All your questions are answered in the FAQ of Yahoo domains and many other registrars.

I have transfered lot of domains from yahoo small business to godaddy, simply go to godaddy and transfer domain request, it will easily transfered to you, BUT one thing is ((( the domain must be 60 days old))). Otherwise you cant transfer the domain name from yahoo to any registrar.

    Thanks!

No you don't. Just log into you Yahoo domains account get to the domain management screen and click to "unlock" your domain. Then go to Godaddy or wherever and initiate the transfer. As easy as pie.

Yes.. It is required if your domain is not a .com and .Net . I requested my previous registrar to give me the authorisation code. I have received it too.

    I did a transfer , finally.
It was not that much hectic to go about..

Went to godaddy and requested a transfer, received a mail on the administrative contact asking to enter some code which was in the mail into godaddy a/c

Here is where I had to obtain a domain authorisation code from Yahoo (It is required if your domain is .com or .net).

I contatcted melborne IT through their customer support feedback form telling about me and asking to send the authorisation code into the same mail id which is in the administrative contact.

I received it the very next day.. and upon following up on godaddy, the transfer is now complete.

    It took a week.

They can't because the domain ownership belong to you. If they do that, they are getting trouble with ICANN. :)
