Touch Local - Marketing nightmare

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by sjacobs3, Apr 28, 2008.

After being contacted by one of the sales team from www.Touchlocal.com a year ago, who said just about anything to obtain an order, the company behind it refused to accept responsability for poor performance and the fact that the salesman lied about what we could expect for our money. Do not expect a refund if you buy one of the poor performing adds they sell, they it is against their principle to understand that they should deliver on promises made. (I was told today that they do not guarantee their service... I can't believe i was mug enough to fall for it...
Save your money - i'm talking from experience!!!! £1500 for next to nothing, ouch... Spread the word hopefully they will learn a lesson and save someone else the expense.

I'm actually with Touch Local and they do offer a range of different products.

They have a guaranteed product called a LeadFinder which can generate releveant traffic being forwarded through to your advert page, much in the way of a Google adwords account, though you often also get the benefits of SEO.

They also have products that are specific for their site such as Banners and Sponsored Links, these are not guaranteed though are a good way to get exposure for your business.

I am aware of many clients of Touch Local that are happy with their product. I'm sure if you contact Touch then they will do everything they can to help.

Hi spookz - do you know what the SEO benefit might be?
I am with Touch Local but I do not have high expectations anymore and will not be with them much longer.

sem advance why are you cussing me just because you ahve taken the time to write "a whole 4,000 posts". I have a business to help run and don't have time to be searching around on forums. s jacobs had only made 1 post anyway...

someone has little too much time on their hands?

benefits of SEO with their leadfinder package depend on how much info you put onto your profile page, I don't know how but Google picks up on this info and you can find yourself listed in the natural search results. I am sure this is more for their benefit to receive clicks to their own site, but as a small business I can't afford an SEo package.

S.Jacobs what advertising package did you buy?

I am not cursing you.....I do not see any "curse words" in my post.

I know you don't have time to search forums....what you do have is a Google Alert, set up for the company name, which alerts you to when people make a post online using the company name or URL. This is called reputation management.

Actually I do have extra time on my hands ....due to building other people's businesses online properly.... as well as my own... and in an ethical manner... I am fortunate that I have time to help others here and on other forums, as well as to learn from others as well.

As for SEO I know it very well... where as you I am not so sure about....

And if you want to prove otherwise... please feel free to sign up at seochat.com and knock me down from # 5 author all time (p.s. I have not written there for a couple years so it should not be that hard)

as for the OP having 1 post as well......It is hard to cast a disparaging light on him.... being as it does not seem he has an ulterior motive to posting what he did.

    Have a good day!

    Cussing (Please see below)
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cussing

I don't really want to get into an arguement about peoples credability and in depth knowledge of internet marketing etc... I wrote in my last post "I don't know how but Google picks up on this info and you can find yourself listed in the natural search results". Please dont belittle me just as I don't have such an extensive knowledge of SEO, as I said I dont have time to post so many replies in forums so I think your #5 author spot should survive another day hehe :)

This is a discussion regarding sjacobs3 advertising and how he believes it hasn't worked for him. I have a free listing with Touch Local and I find myself up in the search ranks of Google.

I was asking sjacobs3 what product he has purchased from Touch and the expectation he has.

Well done for showing no sympathy to this bloke who clearly was annoyed and posted it out of frustration.

"trying to make your company look better" .. No, moron, he is not promoting a company.

Well that's just lying through your teeth now isn't it. Now you've lost all credibility.

You accused the guy who got ripped off, of promoting a website he didn't mention. *clap*.

At risk of earning another infraction over your obviously illiterate education.... I was defending sjacobs.... and giving Spookz crap for being a scammer.

You may want to spend a bit of time here

Please follow that link in all sincerity.....:)

Ohh and as a PS I am not here to build credibility with you........

I used to work for Touch Local in 2006. Let me tell you something.

The company rake in THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars for banner ads and sponsored listings.

I used to ring 200 businesses a day and pitch a Touch Link or a banner ad to them - eventually I walked out of the company - I did not like their policies. They are just up the road from me.

    Avoid em at all costs.

I think everyone should calm down a bit. We have drifted from SJacobs original query. Sem - advance you just appear to want to show your superiority above everyone else. I think we all know we are going a bit far... It's an internet forum for advertising, not a stress ball!

All I want to know is what product he has purchased?

As with any sales environment, there is always a hard sale. I also received a sales pitch from touch local for my free lsiting a week or two after signing up. Though I don't believe I was pressured too much, and I could see the benefits from it. But it's just not something I could afford.
