Granted that the owner of the network should get the most weight and he is providing a free tool that helps everyone, I was curious if Shawn has ever spoken of his own weight within the network? Between his several different ebay ads, western union, link exchange ads etc., he seems to show up a huge percentage of the time. It's pretty cool watching what he has been able to do, ranking high for several VERY competitive terms in a short period of time. I was just curious how much weight he has in the network. He runs a lot of different ads and almost every one of them rank very high for very competitive keywords. Using refresh, I often see his ads showing for 2 and 3 of the total 5 ads on the page and at least one of them showing on just about every other refresh. It's proof that this network works at least! I wonder if Shawn's own weight has broken into the million mark?
We all benefit, Shawn, you and I. Yes, it is our beezwax...if you are running co-op ads on your site. Why wouldn't it be? I think it would have to be called something other than a co-op if it is not.
Guys, there is no need to get in a huffy about this. It was just a post out of curiousity, more or less about how much weight it would take to get some of those types of rankings. I think it is a legitimate question to wonder how much weight goes back to digitalpoint. But if I get an answer or not (which I really don't expect) it's not that big of a deal. Happy Holidays Everyone.
It's still roughly 4%. My account is treated no differently than anyone else's. I do have some large sites that I've consolidated my weight into. My weight comes mostly from referrals though (I have 250+ active sites on the ad network that have been referred by me). Remember, I have nearly 20,000 users using the keyword tracker every day and about 30,000 using various other tools. All of which promote the ad network right in the middle of it. The ad for the ad network page itself (as an ad) is NOT from my weight though. That is the default ad that runs if someone's "number" is picked for an ad and they have not setup any of their own ads to run yet for whatever reason. As far as ranking well for things, I ranked well for things before the ad network. The ad network helps, but it's no where near the majority of the SEO work that goes on for my stuff. Hopefully that answers some questions... feel free to fire off anymore.
Did a rough estimation on a few of my sites that run the tool. On some shawn's ads show up a lot and on others rarely. Maybe your cache is holding a particularly high % of those links atm or maybe you are aware of them so they catch your eye every time they show up, but I see nothing near 50%. 10% of 250 random accounts is 25 times the average account on top of the weight from his own sites, which should mean he's being displayed a lot more frequently than most.
If its possible can you express the amount the ad network helps as a %? Also would you care to share the other aspects of SEO that work well for you - not looking for specifics, just generalisations. PS For the first time ever I think I am beginning to see some evidence that themed links perform better. However, in the midst of the current turmoil I am a long way from being convinced.
I don't know shawn I like the tool, I will add more sites to it, it seems to work when used with regular link building at least it has on the site I tried it on, the site I tried it on that I didn't do any extra link building it hasn't done anything ... yet but time will tell But it sure shows a lot western union and Ebay ads I would say on a page with 5 links every other refresh there is an ebay or western union ad Maybe its just the cache, I just refreshed a page 5 times and 4 out of five times there was an ad for Ebay or western union Maybe its just my site acutally maybe I'm totally wrong , I just refreshed 4 more times and saw all people I have never seen before
I think thats the only danger to a network like this, if one or two major players ads show up most of the time.
oh yeah before someone misunderstands my post 4 times out of 5 refreshes of 5 ads so its acutally 4 or 25 possible ads , not 4 out of 5 ads , add the 20 more ads instances with none 4 out 45 ads
