US Marine saves abused dog in Iraq

This U.S. soldier has a heart of gold and rescued a dog in Iraq being abused. The Iraqis had cut his ears off and stabbed him with a screwdriver. The marine is not allowed to have pets in Iraq, so has arranged to send him back to live in US where he will be loved and cared for, for the rest of his life.

It's nice to hear about something marginally positive coming from the war.

    I can't believe I actually just watched that :(

There is a large number of dogs in Iraq a lot of them hungry and they hang out around our Bases to get scraps of foods, Also the military doesn't allow dogs to be sent from Iraq back home to the united states because of concern of diseases that they may carry and spread.

They are shipping this stray dog to the US with full military approval.:)
From what I understand they must see a veterinarian first, and soldier must raise $3500 to compensate for transportation back to US.

This is the common price for pet transportation to almost any western country. Plus there will be an up to six months quarantine for this doggy too.

Cheers to that soldier and his family.

as far as i'm concerned, the dogs are much more important than the people. the people were given a chance to change their style of government, and apparently they didn't want to. the majority of the dogs were tortured by the dick head Army.

yeah, and those fools didn't take that opportunity. I mean it would have been a piece of cake, it's well known that you just have to ask a ruthless dictator who has half a million soldiers and has killed thousands and thousands of his opponents to step down and he will. But the frikin iraqis didn't ask hussein nice enough so they are now worth less than dogs. Makes sense

see that's the problem with some humans is that some of them do not understand that some drastic measure may have to take place under tyranny.

do you ask for a dictator to step down who has killed thousands? or do you rebel against him, like the Americans did in 1776?

well, what do you think worked better, 1776, or 1944?

well yeah, you're right, spcially considering that dictators are generally known for their support of freedom of the press and freedom of speech and in Iraq they had hundreds of independent media organisations. I mean it's not like they only had one tv channel and were constantly exposed to propaganda or anything like that.
