As usual, I am checking my database of directories for their SERP and others. I was checking SERp of categories of my niche directory. Suddenly, allthelook came up and when I checked it in details, I found that it has 4 sitelinks. Congrats to the owner. I have no doubt if you are talking about www.tcmdirectory.com . It is a niche directory o a very specific field. Many people rubbish that sitelinks are nothing but Google algorithm. But they fail to realize that- it is very hard to achieve. In a non-competitive field it takes less than a year ( like phpLYNX which has become authority too.). Because, it is easier to get enough links ( "hub-score" to all those who dispute that "authority status") . The example of phpLYNX is-- "it is a unique script without parallel. So it is the "centre/head/hub/authority" of anything related to everything phpLYNX. So it took little time than many other sites like romow(very competitive field) - which achieved it after more than 2 years. It does not mean that you can achieve it in 10 months by buying all the links in your niche to become the HUB. Time is a big factor. Other factors are traffic/link-structure. So, its highly possible for you to achieve the score quicker than others if your directory is dedicated to "Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine Resources" -because there is little competition. Good luck.
You answered your own "question". sitelinks are related to the queries. When google judges that the site is authority for that keyword/query than it displays those links. having sitelinks for the site name only means that the site is authority for its name. which is the case for romow as well. Now having sitelinks for the query "web directory" means the site is authority for that keyword which is much harder to achieve. That said, congrats to the owner as sitelinks look good in the serps.
India is a land of more than 300 different languages and dialects. I was using just one of them which he understands ( though he is not from India.) with this Keyword, there is NO--absolutely no - directory on the web that is "authority". But yes- there is one directory that shows sitelinks now for th keyword "webdirectory.com" . Guess, its not really a conventional web directory--but rather a niche one.
I never said there was an authority site for the keyword "web directory". There are however authority sites for keywords not just site names or urls like webdirectory.com check this coupon codes. This one will profit from the sitelinks with all the space allocated to him in the results page.
I don't quite get what's going on here jhnrang? Can you help me out on what, why and when phpLynx comes into the debate? Thanks.
