Yes, if I'm in Google top management, I will buy yahoo if they sell their domain...

That'd be a pretty stupid choice considering Google is doing what Yahoo is and better at that.

Not actually , Yahoo is a portal , Google is a Search Engine, they do have synergies, but the main issues are anti trust because they will be controlling a big pie of their markets.

No perfect reasons but a number of reasons, Yahoo portals are well visited and attracted as much eyeballs as Google, Yahoo do not only consist of the portal but also Yahoo Finances and other services which attract a big following. Google is trying to get content, through Blogger, Youtube etc, Yahoo can provide them with a lot of content and eyeballs which when aggregated provides a substantial synergies for Google and also the ability to monetize them more effectively.

Even the shareholders of Yahoo and Google might not approve of such decisions. No one wants to create a monolith that cannot be controlled

That I agree, the financials and logic for a merger and acquisition may be there but there are other factors to consider.

The Yahoo Publisher network never really competed with AdSense and I'm not sure it will ever come out of beta. However, the myYahoo portal is great though and I'm sure Google would love to get a hold of Flickr. Not sure Mash is going anywhere. It's like Coke and Pepsi though. We need both to balance out the other and each will have its own fanboys hating the other.

More like 1/6. Yahoo is a $30 billion dollar corporation; Google can't afford such a huge and risky secondary.

True, MSN and Yahoo are portals, but look at this definition.

portal site: a site that the owner positions as an entrance to other sites on the internet; "a portal typically has search engines and free email and chat rooms etc."

Hmmmm. Google has free email, a chat application, and a search engine. Google is not exclusively search. It's great how Google has kept their landing pages ad-free. That is what made them so popular. No bull, fast loading, and easily navigable. The contextual ads in gmail are annoying. Funny at times.

Google should buy out Yahoo and MSN and redirect to goolge.com. Better yet, keep the Yahoo and MSN pages online and use the Google algorithm.

Google is a good search engine and a lot of people are using it but when it comes to free email they rather use yahoo or hotmail.

They do much of what the portals do but each thing is separate and big! If they have to, they will buy it - ie. youtube.
