I have not made any money with parked domains, but I bet Godaddy has - I should probably get on the ball!

I have a parked domain that makes anywhere from .04 - .14 a click. The click thru rate normally exceed 50% on any given day. The domain earns me about $100 a month.

I've had inquiries from people that want to buy it, but their offers are low ball. Why take $800 for a name that will earn me that in 8 months? Heck I do nothing with it, so if it were developed it would probably earn much more.

I don't like godaddy's parking service. To me, their parking is too distracting. What I prefer is a plain jane approach with nothing but links that I will get paid on.

Ok well after four months with Godaddy I can report I am quite happy!!

I've made $674.00 in the four months since starting this post.

That averages to $168.00 per month.

I pay $9.99 to godaddy for the premium parking plan

    $158.00 per month profit!

    Stats You Can See

I will say there are some domains that will make more money than others and so the plan now is to weed out the domains that make very low CPC and find more domains making higher CPC.

For example this type of domain is probably earning less than when using Adsense...

    From left to right

    Revenue / clicks / impress / us impress / epc / epm /ctr%

    123MYSPACEPROFILE.COM $0.22 16 69 $0.01 $3.19 23.19%

    Where as this one

    JUVEDERM-INFO.COM $34.84 99 214 1 $0.35 $162.80 46.26%

    Is simply slamming :D

The first site cost me money considering domain registration fees and $0.20 per month parking plan fee.

I break down costs per site so $9.99 per month Godaddy fee divided by 54 parked domains = $0.20 per month.

It appears the more targeted the domain and the more targeted the traffic you drive to it, the higher your EPC.

    More to come!

I recently tried parking a domain for the first time.

On saturday I made $20.90 from 908 uniques, and yesterday I made $15.95 from 507 uniques. CTR is always around 40% too, so it seems to be going pretty good so far.

I don't do much domain parking, but I have noticed that Parked.com pays better than Sedo (based on per-click revenue with domains I've parked at both places.) I like their page designs the best, which probably leads to higher CTR too.

Parked.com displays Yahoo ads while some of the others like Namedrive use Google, which might account for some of the difference in per-click payouts.

What parking service are you using? Is the domain new? Does the domain name receive type in traffic?

I understand that it's about making money, but personally I'm against this. It's such a waste to just take a domain and park it forever, or for a long period of time. Do something with it. Even if it's just a 1 page site with a picture gallery..it's far better then just seeing some really made for ad sense page.

The worst is when people squat on domains that could really be used for something like cool.com (imagine a digg clone on that site..the domain alone would bring in new visitors).

Actually a very niche page pushed at the perfect target market works really well.

Where I think you are wrong in your assessment that a 1 page picture gallery is better than an ad filled site.

    CustomQuadParts.com for example

Pulls a 38.60% conversion rate. I doubt you have anything that converts nearly as well.

    66 Clicks on 171 Impressions.

As can be clearly seen the site is the very type of site you rally against, yet my visitors love it, and so to do the advertisers apparently. and in the end my bank account loves it.

Before May my ability to find brandable domain names and a inventory of over 50 was sitting doing nothing, cash parking is making me money with little daily management needed, which allows me to also work on other methods of earning revenues.

As long as consumers are converting at 20% or higher, I am going to have to go with the assumption they know best, and I am glad to give them what they want.

I looked all over their site for information on the revenue split and I also emailed and called but haven't received any response.

Can you tell me what the revenue split is?

    Far left side under Domains

    https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/park/landing.asp?ci=8997

They have a free program where I think you can earn 60% and the premium for $9.99 per month pays 80% I believe,

    Good luck!

Thanks SEM - I was actually looking for the info on NameDrive.
I have an account with Godaddy for undeveloped domains but I am not really satisfied with the results.

Overall I have found that just taking a couple of hours to create a WP blog that I can promote a little works much better for the little time invested.

Parked is very good and has a Yahoo feed. Fabulous is also very good, has a Google feed and is one of the best for casino or gambling domains. Both allow you to customize their pages and add your own keywords, and both have excellent customer service. Namedrive is also good.
