Yahoo Photos Going Bye Bye In September

I got an email today from Yahoo telling me to find a new place to put my photos. I have hundreds of files stored with them over the last eight years. They said I have until September to make my decision on what to do with the photos. They listed Photobucket, Flickr, etc as options. This is going to be a task and a half for me!

I've got a couple of accounts with them and full of photos.

What are you going to do with your Yahoo Albums?

Guess I better get started with the Flickr thing. Is it markable as private like yahoo albums?

I received this email from Yahoo:

So, is this correct? If it is, do you think it's a good decision?

i don't think it's a good decision. why to end an working thing ? they should continue running it without any promotion or less, as google is doing with google videos.

it's because they bought Flickr and they're putting more emphasis on using Flickr because it's already built up and people trust it more. There are tools out there to automatically export your images from Yahoo Photo Albums to Flickr. If you have a Yahoo ID, you have a Flickr account (just enable it and set it up - login with your Y!ID and your good to go)

There was an option to download your photos onto your hard drive. And I wasn't there one where they can mail you a disk with your photos? I read about that one somewhere...

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me either. Yahoo! Photos wasn't doing bad apparently and many people were using it. Lets see what more Mr. Yang has to offer in the future.

I use FlickR. I was also thinking of figuring a way to market via Flickr. Any ideas anyone?
