hi, i've looked at a lot of affiliate programs, and i was wondering if there was a way to sell software directly through my own web storefront, without having my customers leave to buy at RegNow or eSellerate or wherever? i have a zencart setup i could use, but want to know where to get the product? thanks, mark
I'm not sure if there is any affiliate program that is set up the way you are suggesting, however, drop shipping might be ideal for what you want. I would STRONGLY recommend you sign up for the OneSource service at worldwidebrands.com I am a user and an affiliate. I have used there dropshipping sources for one of my other sites for some time now. I have had many good experiences with their recommended servicesd and only one bad experience. However, when I called WWB, they had it straightened out within an hour. Of course they also have an extensive list of wholesalers if you want to go that route. Now, if you decide to look into this further, do NOT buy a cheap dropship/wholesale directory from some scam artist. WWB has a solid reputation. They screen their dropshippers and wholesalers and have good customer support. If I can be of help, just contact me. I'd be glad to speak with you on the subject if you have further questions. Jim
Thanks Jim for the reply. Do you know from that OneSource service if there is much software available for resale? I know WWB has lots of tangible goods products, but i wasn't aware that they had software as well? Thanks, mark
Remeber, this option would NOT be digital download software. It would be physical/tangible software that would be shipped to your customer via UPS/USPS, etc. either through drop ship arrangements or software you would buy wholesale and redistribute....but it would fit the bill for software you could sell directly from your website. This is NOT the same as an affiliate program. You would handle the marketing, order taking, and shipping arrangements. With drop shipping you never even see the product. With wholesale you distribute directly. I did a quick search for software and One Source lists 62 categories of software available via drop shipping, 50 categories of software available via light bulk wholesale, and 12 categories of software via large volume wholesale. A sampling of categories: Billing Software Children's software Commercial computer software Computer tutorial software Educational Computer Software Game Software Home & office Surveillance software Identity Theft software PC application software PC educational software PC reference software Photo software Small business accounting software Vieo communications software Video editing software Website building software Jim
We have the original PADkit system available for download at our site - as well as some (admittedly small) forums about PADkit MODs, security, preventing submission spammers, PADkit wish list, etc... PADkit - the PAD site starter kit If you didn't know what PADkit is, it is PHP based website script that uses a MySQL database and PAD XML files to create a download site. Some PAD files order URL value only needs to have the correct affiliate ID appended to start making commissions. The original PADkit has been sort of put on hold due to PAD spammers or hijackers - who make new PAD files containing their affiliate ID information, and submit these to PADkit sites. A lot of code needs to be added to block these duplicate submissions as well as prevent all submissions from these spammers who try to make money from your site; also, their submissions usually cause your site to incur duplicate content penalties as the title that they submit usually already exists (on my website at least).
Hi Jim you've posted some really great information, thanks. Do you have your own site or do you sell on Ebay? What price range do you recommend? I am reading a book by Timothy Ferriss that is all about the $50-200 range so I guess I am going to sell products in that range (although the book isn't completely about drop shipping) Has anyone had any experience with www.doba.com?
Don't use doba.. They are pure middleman. I tried them and found their prices were not good. Additionally, you can go to most of their suppliers directly and get better pricing. I've been putting together a list of products myself. I'm up to about 12,000. It's all drop-ship. We could work something out...
